Wont start i have a 96 ford explorer v6 engine. It wont start in various locations after running fine to the location. I have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, coil pack, control module, ignition switch, and crank position sensor. I have run out of parts to replace. It seems like every time i fill up the gas tank it gives me trouble. If it sits for a long time it seems to help. Sometimes it dosent matter how long it sits. I tested the spark plugs and it dosent seem to spark when I'm having problems...what do I need to replace to fix this? My local mechanic has seem to run out of ideas. Please give any advice that u have!!

I would check the cam position sensor ( at the right rear of the engine) and the plug connector at the PCM. I believe when you say "control module" you mean the PCM because these engines did not use a separate ignition module in '96- it is all done by the PCM.

My 2005 ford explorer starts but wont stay

Fuel is metered to the injectors on signal from the temperature coolant sensor. It is located near the thermostat. Strange things happen when they fail. There is usually a strong odor of gasoline when starting.

Comran out of gas now my 1992 ford explorer wont start. any suggestion on what the problem might be

This truck uses a small electric fuel pump that is located inside the fuel tank, it is cooled by the gas it is immersed in, so when you run the tank dry it severely overheats the fuel pump and many times it can seize up. The way to see if the pump has failed and you have no fuel reaching the engine is to spray starting fluid into the air filter and if the engine starts you need to pull the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump assembly.

Wont start

CHECK SHRADER VALVE ON FUEL RAIL FOR PRESSURE. IT IS COMMON FOR PUMP'S TO GO OUT. YOU CAN HAVE SOMEONE LISTEN TO TANK FOR A BUZZ NOISE ON KEY CYCLES OR TEST FUEL PUMP CONNECTOR HARNESS FOR POWER. TRY KEEPING AT LEAST QUARTER TANK AT ALL TIMES TO KEEP FUEL PUMP COOL,SOME PEOPLE DRIVE ON LOW AQLL TIMES AND KEEPS PUMP HOT CAUSING PREMATURE FAILURE.
