07 Saturn Vue with Honda Engine question

Recently acquired 07 Saturn Vue with the 3.5 Honda and 5 speed ATM. This car was sold new in California. Did GM use any of the VCM engines in Saturn Vue and in particular CA cars. This one has plenty of power but it sounds like it is running on less than all 6 of the cylinders part of the time. No miss fire codes. Changed plugs and the old ones looked great. I know some of the 3.5 used in Honda were VCM, but wonder if Saturn used the VCM especially in CA.

I have a 2004 Saturn Vue FWD with a 3.5l Honda Pilot engine J35. Where is the crankshaft position sensor located?

Hi,

it could be underneath the car or under the hood. Please acquire a picture of the part and start by checking each place. If not able to locate the image, then please call GM (i believe owner of Saturn) to ask technicians to give specific location and any associated diagrams for finding it.

Thank you.

Can you drive a 2004 Saturn Vue (V6 Honda engine and transmission (AWD/All Wheel Drive)) without a rear drive shaft without causing damage?

The Saturn Vue came in the FWD and AWD models. As built, for the AWD to work you need the driveshaft. If you remove the rear drive shaft and fix it so there would be no leakage, you could easily drive the Vue as a FWD vehicle.

Is it true that the 2006 saturn vue has a honda engine

Only the V6 Engine is made by Honda. The I4 is made by GM.
Honda agreed to supply GM with some of their engines in exchange for GM supplying them with some diesel engines

How do I repair a problem with the code p0742?

Hey marcarhernan

This code is set when there is a variance in speed from the transmission input and output shafts. It can be a simple sensor issue or a more complex internal problem. There are several recalls for VUE transmissions but I do not think yours falls under this problem. Yours sounds more like an internal belt issue which Saturn has a technical bulletin for as shown below. This usually requires replacement of the case cover and filter and sometimes the belt depending on the damage. This is the bulletin that has to do with your code;

Bulletin No.: 04-07-30-024E
Date: June 09, 2006
TECHNICAL
Subject:
No Movement in Drive or Reverse with or without DTC P0741, P0742, P0841, P1756, P1758, or P1882 (Replace Case Cover Assembly and Filter) Models:
2002 Saturn VUE - Retrofitted with a 2003 or 2004 VT25E (VTi) transaxle (RPO M16/M75)
2003-2004 Saturn ION
2003-2005 Saturn VUE
with VT25E (VTi) transaxle (RPO M16/M75)
Supercede:
This bulletin is being revised to add additional Correction information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-07-30-024D (Section 07 - Transmission/Transaxle).
Condition
Some customers may comment on the vehicle not moving in the "D" (Drive) or "R" (Reverse) gear selection positions. In many cases, the transaxle will also produce an audible grind or whine noise when attempting to operate in drive or reverse. The Service Engine Soon (SES) telltale may be illuminated with DTCs P0741, P0742, P0841, P1756, P1758, or P1882 set.
Cause
This condition may occur when the VT25E transaxle belt has malfunctioned.

2004 saturn vue redline v6 awd

I had the same problem with my 2004 VUE 2wd. There were also some electrical issues like the turn signals randomly not working. I replaced the battery and now the tranny shifts smoothly and the acceleration is much improved. Also, no more electrical problems.
