What is the Hyunday model? The flywheel is located inside the transmission housing outside the car motor. The starter is most likely located in lower front of the motor under the exhaust manifold and the gear end enters the transmission. Do a search on on Google with terms "1997 Hyunday (model) starter motor" and you should find pictures or even videos on the subject. Ex: "howto replace starter on 1997 Hyunday (model). Good luck!

    It simply is not there! I have done many vehicle starters and this just baffles me. Every post on starters for this car has a suggestion for a different location. This is really crazy. the exhaust manifold is on the opposite side of the engine from the transmission and transaxle housing. Ron J

Where do the wires go when wiring a starter motor on a 97 Hyundai accent - i have a negative wire but cant remember where to attach it

the neg wire goes on the bolt that holds the starter, there should be a positive cable wire that goes to the big bolt on the back of starter seleniod and then a small wire that goes to the small connection on the seleniod,then then neg goes to the block or one of the bolts that holds the starter in,

go ahead and change the filter. There is no need to bleed it after changing the filter. Just start up the vehicle and let it run for a minute or two.
