Have you checked the fuses ? If you got power there, then begin checking wiring for damage, breaks or shorted.

Just one wire goes to the brake lights. If you have the left side. Trace it back to that side. Just a note. Wires tend to break right behind the plugs.

I have an 01 Mercury cougar, the driver rear turn signal isn't working. We've already tested with a good bulb replaced the wand, we're thinking the socket isn't getting power, how do we find the correct...

If the front turn signals are working then the switch is good. Rare for the power to both rear turn signals to go bad. But check the blue and blue/red wires from the turn signal switch. Blue provide turn signal power to left rear and blue/red to the right rear

No brake, turn signal, or flashers at rear of 2006 chevy express 2500

Sounds like a bad turn signal switch. I bet if you wiggle the turn signal lever while you have your foot on the brake pedal the left and right brake lights ill intermittently work.

Running light problem on chevy express 3500 box van

Vehicle electric trouble shooting is the worst. Some of the problems you described the bulbs may have multiple filiments with only some burned out. It may sound silly but change the bulbs. Get a couple of new bulbs and try them in the different spots. Time, road vibrations and spring pressure causes the contacts on the bulbs to wear until they get a poor connection then you get a little arcing that build up a residue and a bulb that test good doesn't work.
Your on the right track with the ground wire. Try a test lamp with a good gound connection and test the different sockets, if your test light works but your bulb doesn't you have a ground fault. If neither work check the switch and fuse before you start tracing the wiring. These are just general trouble shooting tips It's very hard to trouble shoot electrical problems sight unseen.

Left ft turn sgnl to brite

Make sure that it has the proper bulb and that it is in correctly. If it's in wrong, or the socket is bad. Both filaments could be lighting. Think of it as looking at someone driving in front of you with their lights on. When they apply the brakes, both filaments light causing the light to brighten. That is likely the cause for your signal being too bright.

There is a possibility that if the wires are damaged in any way they could be cross contaminating each other creating a short. One wire powering both filaments.

Check that the bulb is inserted correctly. If you feel that it is. Check the socket with a test light.

First with the lights off.

Second with the headlights on (parking lights) there should only be power to one side of the socket. If there's power to more than one, trace and check the wires.

Third with the brake lights on (have someone press the pedal, or set something on it). Two points in the socket should have power.

Get back to me with a kind word if all works out well and I've helped.

I have A 2000 Chevy 3500 Express Van and the brake

Hi,

When you said that you checked the brake switch, did you check it live? Meaning verified live power to the switch, press switch, and then power came out the other terminal?

If so, also verify zero power on brake press, at the offending brake light bulb terminal. You must verify the test light each time you move it...leave running lights on...

After verifying that there is no power coming, after the brake is pressed, note the wire color and find it where it comes to the steering column and test there... This would eliminate wires and connections between front and the rear of the vehicle, unlikely, but needs to be tested.

After verifying no power at that terminal, then yes the t/s switch is certainly suspece. This may be the time to get a mechanic to verify and replace the switch, there are locks, tilt mechanisms, air bags, column bearings, etc involved. Failures risk loss of vehicle control (locking or binding for example.)..

Hope this gets you going in the right direction.

2009 chevy expres trailer wiring harness

Ask dealer if it has a towing package on it. If it does, you usually just pop fuse in under hood for electric brakes, and harness to adapt into is usually near or at rear bumper. Even if it doesn't have brake wire, you should still be able to install adapter at rear, for lights etc. which is available from dealer or auto supply places, then you may have to run electric brakes separate.
