I have a 93 MB 2.6 190E . went to junkyard, got same tranny, spent 500 bucks to replace. Drives fine. No metal shavings on mine either but changed tranny, ok.

SOURCE: BMW E38 735i no reverse gear..????

Before you make any other moves, I would try having the transmission flushed and refilled and filters changed and if that doesn't work, you may have burned out the modulator so you may have to shop around for another transmission or have that one rebuilt, whichever would be feasibly financial for you.

SOURCE: 99 Mercury Cougar has reverse but no forward gears

check the oil lever in the transmisson assuming it's automatic, if the fluid level is fine then with it in gear running and the brake on look to see if the drive shaft is turning, if it is then you have a prboblem with the drive shavft depending on engine size and wheather it's front or rear wheel drive. if it's not turning then you have a transmisson problem. 1996 mercury mountaineer overheating. When I put water in it quickly runs out. Also can only drive in reverse. Once shifting into forward gears it acts as if it's in neutral

Well have you thought about a new car because the transmission is defective, a $3000+ repair. As far as the coolant leak have it pressure tested to see where the leak is.

Car will not drive forward or reverse after shifting.

Make sure the shift cable hasn't come loose from the mechanism on the transmission and that it's moving as it should when the shift lever is being moved.

Sounds like one or both of your universal joins is going bad... Is your mountaineer a 4wd, front wheel drive or rear wheel drive?

My 2002 mercury mountaineer have no problem going forward but it seen like when i put it in reverse the back wheel lock and it out out a funny smell

It sounds like you have a loose brake shoe inside one of your rear axle brake drums. You will have to remove the rear wheels and brake drums to find out for sure.

2005 mountaineer will not go into any gear

Check transmission fluid. If full then sounds like electrical or internal transmission problem. Any check engine lights on? If so get codes pulled from vehicle computer.

I'm sorry to say that you will either have to rebuild the transmission or replace it. All transmissions will start out in 1st. gear when put in drive. Oddly enough this is also the same gear that is used when you are in reverse. please let me know if you need help with anything else.

1998 Mercury Mountaineer Transmission issues..

sounds like servo/solenoid problems for those gears run the fault codes or have it inspected and properly diagnosed by an accredited transmission specialist shop
it is running with no reported noises or other problems so at this point it will not need a new transmission
