How come my 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic Sedan 5.7L will not start consistently? Sometimes it clicks, sometimes it starts right up.

Car doesn't always start but if you keep trying to start it will. I have put a new starter and new battery in it. Sometimes the cruise control will shut itself off.then turn itself back on and if tilt wheel is in the wrong position it will NOT start. It's not consistent about starting.

It sounds like the wiring to the ignition switch or the switch itself is the culprit.

My 1995 chevy caprice classic has a hard shifting problem between 1st & second gears. Any easy fixes to this?

Not really, unless there is a shift kit in there. Have a transmission shop check it out.

Cutting off while driving

Try checking fuel pressure again with a guage on the fuel rail. If you still notice the pressure is low and you know the fuel pump is good, the fuel pressure regulator may be bad. Sometimes you can tell by unplugging the vacuum hose from it and if you see gas that means the diaphram is leaking. If everything checks out with the fuel system a bad EGR valve or EGR valve solenoid can cause cars to sort of stall under half throttle. Good luck and keep me posted.
