Might have a bad brake switch, do you have any codes in ABS ? Does this happen when the vehicle is running and parked ? Do the brake lights stay on ?

SOURCE: srs and anti lock brakes and light engaged now i have no braking

park it, get it towed (unless you know someone that can fix it) and have a shop go over it to find out what happened. Most likely the master cylinder has failed.

Sounds like maybe your alternator's going
Get to an auto parts store and have them check your alternator and battery usually for free....Advanced Auto Parts does this for me free.

SOURCE: My 2005 mazda tribute brake lights will not turn off

The stop light switch is sticking. If it's a mechanical one that is operated by the movement of the brake pedal the replace the switch. If a hydraulic one is fitted, remove one wire and see if the stop lights go off. If so then replace the hydraulic switch.

SOURCE: 2002 Mazda Tribute rear liftgate lock replacement

I'm not sure where' the screws are but basically You need to remove the panel on the rear door, then once the panel (interior trim) has been removed you should see a lock mechanism which will be screwed/bolted in place. Easier and cheaper then buying a brand new lock mechanism (unless you want to buy brand new) is going to a wreckers and finding your car model and get it that way (yes it's used but it'll probably save you tons of money vs the dealership) Best Regards.

SOURCE: Anti-lock brakes engaging when not needed

sounds like you have a wheel speed sensor going out.. need to have it scanned to see which one is dropping out and making abs kick in..

On my 2006 mazda tribute, the abs light came on, wnet off and came back on again. the car has plenty of brake fluid. . .what could be wrong?

Hello and thanks for the question,
The anti lock brakes system is somewhat complex. There are many reasons as to why the ABS lamp flashed on and the back off ( ie. Wheel speed sensors, relays, poor power supply, bad grounds). There's really no other way of telling without haveing the codes retrieved from the ABS module( computer).

How do you adjust the parking brake on a 2006 Mazda Tribute? Thank you very much!

On a 2006 Mazda Tribute which everyone tells me is a Ford Escape, in the cab, at the parking brake lever, remove the boot or decorative cover on the parking brake handle. The brake adjustment is a self-locking nut on the threaded end of the parking brake cable that connects to the left and right parking brake cables underneath the car.
The only adjustment possible is right there at the handle after you remove the boot that covers the parking brake handle in the center console. If the brake has been allowed to get loose, the cable may very well have come off the cable guide on the parking brake handle and there will be no braking and the cable may very well be cut or partially cut by the handle. With some straight screwdrivers push the cable into its guide and then adjust the parking brake.
But, underneath, there is no adjustment whatever possible for a 2006 Mazda Tribute.
On a 1991 F-250, yes, but not here. Don't get dirty for nothing. This is the easiest brake to adjust since the old screw handles.
