There should be a small diagram on a sticker under the hood or in the engine compartment that shows the route of all emission related vacuum lines.

the air sound AND the hard pedal means you have a brake booster concern

if the car is running ok we can rule out vacuum leaks so that leaves the check valve but with the car running even a check valve wont cause the concern

therefore you need to replace your booster

semi-tough job because you have to remove the master cylinder and typically there may be some push rod adjustments afterward

depending on your level of experience you may want to seek professional assistance

the hose between the inlet manifold and the vacuum canister is leaking/clip gone,or the vacuum canister has gone.....check visually for cracks/air leaks(best if someone in car pressing pedal with your head under hood....

I am not sure but I think that is a vacuum controlled system, check the vacuum lines to the regulator.

Idle Air Control System RPM Higher than expected. The computer is detecting an idle speed higher than what it should be. A vacuum leak perhaps...EGR valve, faulty PCV valve, throttle body, EVAP system, idle air controller or circuit. Check for vacuum leaks.
