HI Chuck! The cam position sensor is inside the distributor on the quest. If the cam sensor has gone bad you need to replace the distributor assembly as it is not servicable. Before replacing the distributor, take the cap off and make sure the rotor is turning when you crank the engine. If it is not then check the timing belt as the distributor is driven by the cam shaft. If the belt is broken the cam shaft will not turn and you could get this code. The cam sensor is located under the plastic cover located under the rotor button
Thank you, It's odd I kept getting a crankshaft sensor code so replaced it. Then when it came up again a mechanic said possibly it's a cam sensor. I checked with fixya. Also I called my Iocal Nissan dealer to order one since none of the Iocal auto stores could order one. The dealership said it didn't have one. So as you say it's part of the distributer that I'd b need to order.

SOURCE: 1997 nissan quest camshaft sensor where is it & how to replace it
The camshaft sensor is located inside the distributor and is part of it, in order to replace it you must replace the distributor,to replace remove the dist cap. mark the location of the rotor,by marking where its pointing to, then mark the dist housing, so now theres a mark on the rotor and housing to show where rotor points, next mark the location of dist going into housing, mark the shaft and the block, because it spins in block this way you can line back up.next remove hold down bolt and pull out, mark the new dist in exacat same spots as the old so you can install back the same, you may have to put it in and pull it out until your marks are lined up,this way the timing will be dead on, when done you can check timing. good luck
