Not sure what you mean by rpm sensor. The signal for the tachometer comes from the PCM and is based on signals from the crankshaft position sensor, located on the right rear of the engine where the transmission bolts to the engine, but if this is bad, there are a lot more problems than the tachometer not working. There are two speed sensors on automatic transmissions, an input speed sensor and an output speed sensor. Both are located on the left side of the transmission, the input speed sensor near the front (just behind the bell shaped portion) and the output speed sensor near the rear. In addition to those there are wheel speed sensors for the ABS, located in each wheel area covered by the ABS.

Thanks old marine. Check engine light came on and neighbor check on his checker code book said rpm sensor but maybe that's an old checker or book of codes. I was hoping for an easy fix. Thanks so much for your response. And thank you for your service to our country. May God bless and protect you.

The cam sensor on the 4.7 is located toward the forward edge of the right cylinder head (passenger side). This has a 3 wire connector, tan/with yellow tracer is sensor signal, black / light blue tracer wire is sensor ground and the orange is the 5V supply.

SOURCE: were is the oil pressure sensor located on a 1992 dodge dakota

It is located behind the breather, on the passenger side of the distributor. If you are having low oil pressure I'll give you a tip. You can change the sensor, but if that doesn't work, then the problem very likely could be that, dodge dakotas are notorious for a buildup of sludge on the screen of the oil pump, which blocks the flow of oil. If you are going to drop the oil pan to address this you may as well put a new oil pump in while you are at it. They are 30-50 dollars. If you can do it yourself, the whole operation should cost less than 100 dollars, if you take it to a garage, you better have a fat wallet.

2004 Dodge Dakota. It down shifts hard and now it won't shift out of 2nd gear and I have code P0734 and the fluid level is good. Where is the solenoid located?

Question edited for clarity and spelling 'solenoid'.
Question moved to model category.

It may not be the solenoid, it is a speed sensor error related to 4th gear.

The P0734 code stands for "Gear 4 Incorrect Ratio." It's logged when the PCM detects that the RPM of your input speed sensor doesn't match the expected RPM in 4th gear.

How many speed sensor's are there on a 99 Dodge Dakota sport an were are they located

There is an ABS wheel speed sensor located in the rear differential.
If this fails it affects the ABS and may cause your speedometer to read erroneously at speeds under 25-30 mph. There is also a VSS located in automatic transmission housing. Manual trans vehicles don't have this. They use engine rpm to determine speed as there is supposedly no slippage in the manual drive train.

01 dodge dakota 3.9. no power to coil replaced engine control relay still no power can jump across relay get power but no start and get code for no rpm

If you're getting a code for no RPM, the PCM is not receiving a signal from the crankshaft position sensor. The PCM uses the signal from the crankshaft position sensor to fire the coil/spark plugs. Check the wiring to the crankshaft position sensor and check the sensor itself.

2001 Dodge Dakota 4WD Quad Cab: engine RPM's too high/jumpy

could be a lot of things. I personally would start with your vacuum lines... check for a leak somewhere. You can do that by spraying carb cleaner (if motor tries to die, you found your leak), or it could be a sensor, likely idle air control, mas air, etc.)
