It depends , what's the RPO - regular production order code ? Call the dealer with the code an they can tell you . Or hook up a up scale scan tool . one that will talk with all the modules on the computer . You could down load Forscan to you lap top an go on ebay an by a ELM327 wi-fi , this plugs into you OBD2 connector on the vehicle an communicates with the forscan scan tool . It shows all the computers on the vehicle . ELM327 V1 5 OBD II Bluetooth Car Diagnostic Interface Scanner

SOURCE: cant get spare tire off

The metal sleeve on the end of the cable, you turn it sideways and push it thru the hole in the wheel. If it is stuck to the wheel just pick up on the wheel then tap the sleeve with a hammer.

SOURCE: 1999 Mercury Mountaineer, heater/AC fan no longer blowing

I would check the fan first disconnect the electrical connectors on it and use a pair of home made jumper cables and run it from the battery. If it works move unto relay if it doesn't you've found the culprit.
Next check relay in the fuse box. Coolant tempertant switch(CTS) aka thermal switch and its circuit. CTS is usually located in the water jacket by the t-stat.

1999 Mercury Mountaineer V6 4.0. What could it be causing it to keep stalling on me when I get it started?

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Most of the things you swapped out would not have caused that.

Here are a few ideas

It would have been better to pay for diagnostics using a pro grade scan tool computer. They can record what happens.

Removal of starter 1999 mercury mountaineer

Three bolt starter? Top bolt is a bear either way. Easiest to use about 2 to 2-1/2' of 3/8" extension and go straight at it from between the radiator and engine. You'll have to play with extensions to get just the right length, but it's do-able.
