look for it near the oil filter.on the block

I think it's on the side of the engine right behind the A/C compressor where all the lines are. I know it's wide open on the other side of the engine, but that's ford for you so you'll pay an arm and a leg to do a simple job. Good luck and hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0 engine 6 cylinders. The message center has low oil pressure which is at 69% . I purchased an oil sending/ pressure unit. Should I install it or do something else?

Have you checked the dipstick for level of oil?

No oil pressure

either replace oil sending unit or get a manual oil pressure gauge and screw in to oil sending unit port and visually check with engine running to see if or what the actual pressure is. If 0 pressure registers then bad oil pump. but if good pressure, then you have a bad oil sending unit. also change oil filter.

Where is the oil sending unit located

This is for a 98 but probably will be the same Front drivers side of the engine. Behind the alternator. Hard to see and get to. It has a white plug with one wire. Fords oil pressure sending units are not real sending units. Your oil pressure gauge is a glorified idiot light. Its either on or off, always in the middle
