Clutch slave cylinder bad. Check to see if clutch reservoir has brake fluid in it. If reservoir is low try filling and pumping clutch pedal with hand until its firm. It is also possible that clutch is worn out and pressure plate is broken

SOURCE: Low / Soft Clutch Pedal, 1995 Rodeo 2W 2.6L

my rodeo had the same problem i corrected it by bleeding the slave cylinder. and is located on the driver side on the gearbox you will find it if you follow the line from the master cylinder down to the gearbox and if that helps but happens again it might have to be replaced.

SOURCE: Clutch pedal sometimes engages when near floor

Hi. Let me try to lend you a bit of assistance, also.
My fellow expert Benimur is very correct with his input to you.

But...Air does not get into your clutch hydraulics unless the fluid has leaked out at some point. As long as the cylinders and tubes are intact, I would doubt that air is the issue. Short of pulling the transaxle, and inspecting the clutch, there is really no other way to determine your issue properly.

Personally, I think that you haven internal problem with the clutch assembly. It could be worn fingers on the clutch plate, a worn clutch disc, or something as simple as the throwout bearing is hanging up on the input shaft collar.

If Beni's suggestions does not help, you are going to need to pull the trans off, and inspect the clutch items mentioned above.

Thanks for choosing FIxYa, we wish you the best of luck; let us know how it turns out.

SOURCE: 1997 hyandai accent gt clutch problem

hi considering age of car and that you have no leaks on hydraulics? may i suggest you try bleeding the clutch to rid of old fluid a couple of pumps may be suffice ? b/fluid does absorb moisture and heat over time hence recommendation tat fluid be changed at period specified in handbooks ie 12 monthly ?

Car has difficulty going in gear even if pedel is fully down

The clutch is not fully disengaging. Adjust the clutch cable to obtain a 1/2 inch of free play at the top of pedal stroke. If clutch adjustment is not correct, damage to synchronizers or clutch release bearing will occur. Your clutch should begin to engage about an inch off the floor when releasing the clutch pedal.

I just put a new slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder on a 2003 Honda accord 3.0 V6 six speed and you can shift the gears without the clutch pedal pushed in or the car started

that is normal if the gear synchro dogs ( teeth) are in line in the box
problems concerning a clutch are
slashing gears when trying to engage first or reverse with the pedal to the floor ---needs bleeding
slipping when the clutch pedal is released--- slipping clutch from the pressure not being released ---problem in master cylinder
reverse gear is the only gear not synchronised so even with the clutch depressed it is possible sometimes that it will not go into gear unless you let the clutch up to move the gears in the box then attempt to re-engage reverse

My clutch goes all the way to the floor I have a standard Camaro 96 3.8

clutch pedals are suposed to go all the way to the floor , you sure you dont mean brake pedal (cus thats bad ! ) clutches should travel all the way to floor and release the "grab" of the engine about 2/3 down , this way they are more smoothly allowing shifting thru the gears and not jerking as you shift thru the gears , if clutch pedal does not start to "grab" the engines power by 2/3 off the floor and fully "grab"its power all the way up(slipping) ,and you have a hydraulic clutch (96's do) then the clutch disk may require replacement or there is a oil leak in the clutch/master/slave cylinder , look for small oil leaks from under car in area of foot pedals
clutches should be replaced as an assembly that includes , disk ,pressure plate, throwout bearing , with engine side clutch plate magnafluxed for heat cracks and any hydraulic oil leaks replaced or repaired

1998 Saturn station wagon clutch would not go into gear until pedal was released and then re engaged

Check your clutch fluid....If its ok check you gear oil. It could be you release bearing going bad inside transmission..If so you might as well rebuild all of it.

Clutch pedal travel

Your pedal height may be adjustable by a stopper bolt at top of pedal. You would have to check the specification for your car. Most important that the pedal has about a half inch free travel before clutch begins to engage. You need that free play to ensure the release bearing (the throw-out bearing) is not touching the fingers on the pressure plate when not engaged. If it always is touching, it will be rolling around constantly and will go out prematurely.
Your new clutch will allow gear engagement sooner as the clutch pedal is released. I mean gears will engage just as pedal is lifting off from floor. You should notice that difference-the old clutch would have taken longer pedal travel from floor before releasing.

1998 Saturn SC1 manuel stick is hard to shift into 1st & 2nd gear

Try to double clutch the clutch pedal. How to double clutch; push the clutch in moving the stick to neutral, then release the clutch and then push it back in and shift into first or second gear. If it works then it is not the shift linkage and could be a clutch adjustment. First how far do you have to release the clutch pedal until the clutch plate starts to engage? If only an inch or so the clutch pedal needs to be adjusted, which is an easy fix (this is more common). The other possible problems could be the clutch plate, throwout bearing of syncros could be bad. If it is one of the previous problems double clutching should buy you some time.

1997 Saturn SC1 with manual transmission, slipping when driving. Not sure if it is clutch, tranny or something else. Replaced speed sensor in axle/diff and improved but still there.

you can check if its the clutch by puting car in 4th gear and releasing clutch pedal slowly if the pedal travels a long way out and the engine just spins then its the clutch.
