Our Nissan Almera 2005 1.6, there is a chaffing noise coming from the gearbox, it goes away when you use the clutch, and in freewheel. all gears change ok.

It could be a fault with the engine control unit and/or the gearbox control unit. Best to have it checked out before it's too late

Gregory, your throw out clutch bearing is worn. You should just install a new clutch kit.

You Need To Remove Gear Box Fit New Bearing On Spigot Shaft
Re Fit Gear Box ,While You Have It Out Check Condition Of Clutch

sounds like your thought out bearing is making noise which is not that big a deal right now and the second thing is that it sounds like you aalso have a synquinizer that is going bad. In this case you would need to have the trans rebuilt to fix problem or chance a used one.

CHECK FLUIDE LEVEAL, COULD HAVE BAD BEARINGS.

this is mpst definatly the gearbox differential bearings. what happends is the engine mounting goes and causes the gearbox to drop down causing excessive wear on the bearings. new gearbox im afraid

needs a new clutch ,pressure plate dragging caused by worn springs

The malfunction indicator is not lighting up initially.
