1993 Jeep Wrangler - Front Axel U joint, why no C clips?

1993 Jeep Wrangler - I am a new jeep guy and I don't see any C-clips on the front axel U joint ends. Is this normal. What holds the U joints in, and whats the best way to replace after I pull the axle; The old vice and sockets method, or drive them out with a big hammer on the yolks?

The factory u-joints use plastic injection for retainers so when it comes time to replace the factory u-joint use a torch to heat the u-joint cups and you will see a melted plastic worm come out the side of the drive shaft, now you can drive out the old joint.
The replacement joint will use inner c-clips.

Front axel repecment for 1998 jeep cherokee sport

That usually means that the axle or U-joint is worn. Have it replaced as soon as possible because it presents a danger of breaking while your driving.

The axle from a jeep 4x4 is broke , both axles, how do i take out the rest of the parts?

The front axel is a two piece assy. remove the 4wd
shift moter from the axel housing. Once the moter
and fork are off , remove outer axel.To remove inner
axel, remove differential cover and let it drain.
There is a C clip on the axel, remove it and work the
axel out through the axel tube.(if it is broken)
To remove the rear axel. Remove diff. cover and drain.
Remove the pinion lock nut(or spring clip) and slide
back pinion shaft. Remove retaining clip from axel
and remove axel. To remove broken piece I use to
use a length of an old whip antenna, to push it out.
If you can find a piece of heavy gauge wire to push
it out.(a plumbers snake may work)Also only have
one axel at a time out of either housing, this will
make it easier to reinstall the axels.
I hope I was of some help. Good luck.

4wd only works about half the time i need it to.any suggestions?

the 4wd in a jeep is activated by vacum check all of the vacum system for leaks and the actuator motor on the front axel which is on the driver side in the middle of the axel tube. the motor if not used alot can lock up from time to time, that is where i would start, good luck hope this helps.

4 wheel drive light is on in my jeep

vacumn pod on the front axel is stuck on. Jack up the front wheels spin both tires at the same time and see if the front drive shaft turns. If it does the 4x4 on the axel is engaged. The front drive shaft on these should not turn when vacumn pod is disengaged. YJ's have a split axel on the right side inner axel shaft.

Have a chirping sound front left ,wheel went drivin

had a break job lately? it might be the squeakers on break pads telling you its time for breaks. or if its 4 wheel drive could be a CV joint on front axel going bad, or wheel bearing going bad too.

LEAKING FRONT AXIL SEAL

take the wheel off , unbolt caliper and sling it out of the way with a bungi cord, take off the rotor, then you have too take the pumpkin cover off the axel diff in the front (drain fluid first) easy way to do that take out bottom and side bolts out then leave top 1 or 2 in but finger loose. pry cover off with a sturdy scrapper from side allowing fluid to leak out from bottom of cover. when fluid is done comeing out then take off cover. to take the axel out to replace the seal you have to push the axel inwards to remove the C- CLIP on the end of the axel shaft that slides into the inside of the pinion gear (use a extending magnet) keeps gear oil on your hands and from dropping it into the pumpkin housing. then all you have to do is slide the axel shaft out. then replace the seal .
