If you set the temperature to a high temperature when demisting, it should still provide heated air, just not through the dash vents aimed at you. Is that not sufficient? Does your car has seat heaters?

Testimonial: "Thanks for that, I understand what you say, but it's not very satisfactory as it performs at the moment. Yes, it still provides heated air, but just through the dash vents, but it would be much better to have both the windscreen and the other car heating vents working. And no, my model does not have heated seats. So, any ideas if I can get both zones working together? Otherwise, the car is excellent!"

I don't have specific experience with your model, but I would imagine the limitation is for safety purposes. It's important that the windshield stay defrosted. It's not so important that the passengers remain completely comfortable. By not diverting airflow away from the windshield when Defrost mode is selected, it makes the defrost function as effective as possible. Of course you could argue that the fan should default to 3/4 speed and not allow other speeds to be selected when defrost is selected and I wouldn't really have an argument to stand on....

Thanks for that, Rodney. Great car, shame that this little quirk can't easily be got around! I'll just have to live with it, eh? Regards, Derek

What makes heater suddenly stop working but ac works fine

I am having an issue with my car !
My drain pipe for the AC is blocked again .
How do I konw because the carpet is wet near the centre hub of car under the dash.
My AC works but I noticed the heater not working due to the water sitting on top of the heater. I also noticed the demister was blowing cold and water vapour. So my demister on the front window was fogging up the windscreen .
Get a mechanic to check the AC drain pipe !

Hi, my car, a toyota caldina, has three buttons on the dashboard that i don't understand. One button has a sign of a windscreen with a wiper and current going through it with an ON light indicator. Another...

on a 1997-2002 caldina G, GT, GTT..

One is the rear demister (front demister is in the center console with the heater). But it could also be the windscreen cleaner pump, if you mean on the stalk. (up, front window, down, reap window).

One is the fog lamps if fitted

The last is an inverter buit into the car so you can run 100Volt domestic devices (like laptops/shavers and stuff). I think the japanese have 100 volt domestic power. You'll find the *** power socket on the back of the centre console under a little hatch, easiest to see from the back seat. Mostly you want it turned off.

2006 x type saloon demist function does not work floor and other outlets o.k

the demist function should be for the windscreen. the a/c should kick on and put out heat at the dash vents. the combination between the a/c and the heat allows the system to evaporate any moisture in the air allowing it to warm you and evaporate any moisture on the windscreen, and anywhere else they may have it duct to so that vision is not impaired. enjoy!
