Cd player showing locked

your going to have to change it, the smell you smelled was the electrical components in the radio frying.

The cd player has an internal problem. The ebay seller most likely knew this and now it's your problem. A Chevrolet dealer can get you a reman but it will cost a few hundred.

you need to check you owners manual in the glove box under the radio section,your car probably has a six cd box under a seat or in a console but it should tell you where,or even stop in a ford garage and have them show you where it is

My radio can be on even without the key in (01 focus) maybe the radio is directly wired to the battery cable and your wire has been fried or damaged from the 'jumping'. You may want to carefully inspect the little wires attached to your actual battery connectors.

I know it sound crazy, but turn the system on, press eject while using a PLASTIC knife to lift the CD in the player. If the system is stock also try disconnecting the radio fuse for about 10 minutes or so with the car off. Reconnect it to see if the radio resets. You'll know the power completely went out because you'll have to reset your stations. By Resetting, hopefully the issue will solve itself. In a few of the system issues I've seen, when the motor won't open the faceplate, or the CD player won't give the CD back. I usually remove the faceplate or disconnect the negative side of the battery for about ten minutes. Try this if the fuse removal doesn't work. Good look. Let me know how it goes. there are other things to try.

First thing is check you accessory fuse located on the driver side of the dash. Or you may actually have to check the OWNERs Manual to see what fuse does what. The back of the fuse door usually has fuse schematics. If neither of these are available use an Ohm meter to check continuity on the fuses. Change with SAME fuse rating if there is no continuity between the poles.

if you cut the wires to install the radio check to see if the wire you used as a ground for the radio turns to hot when you turn on the lights if this happens then the wire ypu used for ground is actually a backlight wire and you will need to find a new ground. please rate if this helps
