99 Deville can't hear fuel pump - 1999 Cadillac DeVille

He want's directions on cutting a hole in the trunk to get at the fuel pump > Wouldn't advise that , puncture the tank ! Just drop the tank out >

Its possible you cooked the pump. The pump needs liquid gasoline to keep it cool and lubed. There's also a chance the pump is damaged from debris from the bottom of the tank.
If you have fuel in the tank, you would jumper the pump relay to find out if the pump is running and what is coming out of the filter under the car.

Sometimes you have to jumper the pump relay to get it to run long enough to get the air out of the system and the new pump primed.

Fuel Pump is in the Fuel Tank Open the Fuel fill door and listen for a pump running with your ear to the fill pipe. If you hear no pump sound then the problem is the fuel pump. That is an $800.00 dollar job anyway you cut it. Hope this helps.

in this case i suspect air intake,did you replace the air filter?or get the air intake regulater checked to what you are saying its one of those two.adrian,,,

A leak such as that meaning the fuel pump where as the fuel pump on your vehicle, is/should be battery operated, I would check to see IF timing is off a percentage, also take the fuel line off the carb. have someone turn the engine over you hold the line in a container to check it out...also we have found simple things like the floor mat under the accelerator was bunched up...??

Sounds like you need a new fuel pump.Have u heard the pump before?

I had a ford f150 that did this.In the acc positon of the ignition i could hear the pump.

When i did not hear the fuel pump i had to replace it.

try a new fuse if it pops again there is a short in weiring or bad fuel pump did you put new gas in it

That is correct for initial prime,then fuel pump works off of crank sensor.Fuel pump is ussually controlled through ECM not Bcm.Have you checked for fuel preasure when you first turn on key,

I dont know what you have and havent checked, but I would start with the fuel filter. If that doesnt help, check the pump. Turn your key to the on position without starting the engine and have someone crowch by the gas tank and listen to see if they hear the pump kick on. If they dont hear anything, its probably bad. Im just speculating you mean you are not getting fuel up to the injection system and you havent checked these things yet. Sorry if im misunderstanding. Hope this helps, Clay
