1988 Cadillac Deville. ELC light stays on in dash and drains battery

ElC compressor has been unplugged by customer but the leveling light in dash is staying on. Will drain battery every 2 or 3 days. Have checked fuses and the ELC/ignition fuse #8 under the dash have also been pulled. What else has to be done short of removing the light bulb in the dash. This may or may not solve the problem.

The light is on because the system fuse was removed, this causes the control module to see a fault. either fix the system or pull the dash and remove the warning bulb.

Where is the suspension fuse on my 1997 deville

Hey Philly,
The ELC Fuse should be in the trunk fuse block. There are 2 fuses for the system located in the Trunk Fuse Block. They are a Electronic Suspension Control 30 AMP Fuse & an Ign-0 Body fuse.

Can't find the relay for the electronic level control(elc) for a 1999 cadillac eldorado

1. Locate the automatic level control height sensor under the rear of the vehicle on the rear suspension support. If the back of the car is too low and will not pump up, ground pin B Yellow wire and see if the compressor will come on and the car will raise.

2. If the car does raise when pin B is grounded, check the powers and grounds to the height sensor.
3. If the powers and grounds are OK and the pump does come on and the car raises when pin B is grounded, the height sensor will need to be replaced.

4. If the car is too high and will not come down, ground pin E White wire at the height sensor to see if the car will lower.

5. If the car lowers when the White wire in pin E is grounded, check the powers and grounds to the height sensor.

6. If powers and grounds are OK and the car does lower when pin E is grounded, the height sensor will need to be replaced. Tech Tips: There are two different automatic level control systems for this car; one is without RPO F45 and one is with RPO F45. The system without F45 has an automatic level control height sensor and with F45 the automatic level control compressor is controlled by the continuously variable road sensing suspension module. Tests/Procedures: 1. Using a head lamp as a load, test the ELC height sensor power/grounds.

2. The power feeds are: Orange wire, pin C and a Brown wire, pin D.

3. The ground is pin A, Black wire.

4. Ground the White wire at the height sensor, check that the vent solenoid in the ELC compressor clicks and vents the air from the system. Author: Bill Siegmann

???????? ? ???????? ??????? 1995?. ????????? ???? ?????? S036 service ride control, ??? ??? ??????, ??? ?????????

Hello: S036 concerns the road sensing suspension, in this code it tells us the electronic level control (ELC) compressor relay has a short to ground or an open circuit. Fuses to this system (2) one 10 amp in the engine compartment. The other fuse is a 30amp located in the trunk compartment. There is also a relay in the trunk compartment relay center, #2mirco relay center ELC relay "A". I hope this helps you.

My 1998 cady sts is really high in the back looks like it is lifted.... why?

The vent solenoid is stuck closed on the ELC unit (electronic level control). You can replace the vent valve but it is mounted to the ELC unit witch is attached to the rear axle assembly on the top of axle assembly above the right muffler. To temporary level car, disconnect the compressor electrically then disconnect the air line on one of the rear shocks, let air out till car is level put air line back on shock. Thank you

Rear air ride stuck in high position. leveling sensor linkage intac and seems to be functioning properly. adjusting sensor either way does not make difference. Are there any good manuals to help diagnose...

the exhaust valve is stuck closed, the valve is mounted to the elc assembly. the assembly is mounted to the frame above the passenger side muffler. highly recommend a cadillac dealer perform this task

My 1988 Cadillac Deville has a new battery and alternator but still looses charge over night,Checked lights everywhere none are on at night??? why does it still discharge??

A 12V battery drain, doesn't necessarily mean a bulb is on. There could be 17,842 other reasons such as a sticking seat switch, blower motor staying on, I could go on. Need to have it tested for that, and identify the circuit with the drain on it. Then beginto search and see what is the cause. Hope this helps

1995 eldorado cadillac

My service ride control light was on my display and car was riding really low in the rear. figured my struts were going bad. turned out my fuse was blown for my ELC(electronic leveling control) and car was riding heavy when it blew, so it was stuck riding low in back and it almost fooled me into buying new struts($$$) Figured a fuse couldnt be the problem but checked just in case, and thats what it ended up being so that is the first thing I would check before I spent any money. lets hope your problem is this easy to fix. Good luck.
