You'll need to disconnect the wire harness and splice the original wires back together.

Without the proper testing equipment an knowledge ( factory service info. ) You have no idea what's up . an don't have a chance of fixing this . Checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always the first step . Take's a professional type scan tool to read these codes. Serial data info from module incharge to PCM/ECM ,enable or disable fuel and or starter operation . Sends coded messages Your best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop . That white component is the ignition switch .
The design of the passlock™ system is to prevent the vehicle operation if the proper ignition key is not used in order to start the vehicle. The mechanical key, in normal operation, will turn the passlock™ lock cylinder. The passlock™ sensor will relay the passlock™ data to the body control module (BCM). The BCM will determine the validity of the passlock™ data. The BCM will send a code password to the vehicle/powertrain control module (VCM/PCM). When the VCM/PCM receives the correct code the VCM/PCM allows the fuel injectors to operate normally. The passlock™ system requires the VCM/PCM and the BCM to communicate the various functions in order to operate. These functions transmit over the class 2 serial data line CKT 1807. Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.

If you're gunna tear your car apart, i'd just do this next fix and bypass it all together. Its more money, less work, and a permanant fix. Up to you tho.


Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks. If you do buy this, please purchase it thru this link.

There is a definitive solution that I'm pretty sure can work for your case too. This was the only way I was able to save my 94 Park Avenue: http://newrockies.com/vatsbypass - My car had a Passkey system, but the only difference between PassLock (yours) and PassKey is that the former has a resistor in the lock, while the latest has it in the key. For the rest, they are the exact same system. I also heard several other people with a PassLock system using this method successfully.
