SOURCE: 04 corolla. Oil light comes on. Full of oil.

the oil pump on any car is rarely the cause of low oil pressure. if you remove the oil pressure sending unit and install an oil pressure gauge, even the type you can buy as an add on,and the reading you get is low.the problem is genrally worn out main crankshaft bearings.to avoid unneseary replacement of these, you should buy some plasti-gauge from an auto part store remove the bearing caps one at a time and measure the clearance this way.there is a risk here because the smallest grain off dirt that getts into the bearing, crankshft will ruin the bearing when you restart it.if these are worn out you probabably shoul consider replacing the engine because the other bearings are probably also worn out by this time.

SOURCE: How often do you change the motor oil? The motor

Oil change recommended is every 3,000miles / 5000km for local short running around. If you clock up the miles quickly then extend the oil changes to 6,000miles /10,000km
Oil filter is every second oil change.
Use reputable multi grade oil 15W/40 or similar, Do not use standard SAE 30 single grade oil. You do not need to use synthetic / semi-synthetic oils either.

Will tappets on a pontiac 3.8 start rattling after motor overheats?

it can if the motor got very hot. you may have poor oil quality from overheating. damaged valve lifters, damaged camshaft/bearings, oil pump, water in oil which can cause engine damage from overheating. it will have to be checked out to find what caused the overheating then the lose of oil pressure to cause the rattle.

Hi i have a 2004 vwlt 2.5tdi when the engine gets warm theres a tapping/rattle from top of head i seem to be worse as you let of the throttle,no smoke or lost of power any suggestion cheers jeff

MOTOR IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH OIL TO THE TOP END TO LUBRICATE VALVES AND LIFTERS. POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS; OIL PUMP NEEDS REPLACED, ENGINE NEEDS FLUSHED, OIL AND FILTER CHANGE. BAD RESULT MOTOR WILL EVENTUALLY BLOW UP IF NOT ATTENDED TO SOON.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE A POWER STEERING MOTOR AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE FOR A 2006 MALIBU?

its a pump not a motor, you need to remove the drive belt from the pump, unbolt the pump from its mounting position, drain the oil out, remove the hydraulic oil line from the pump and remove the oil line.
bolt new pump on, connect oil line and drive belt, tension the drive belt, fill with oil to the right level, turn steering lock to lock with engine running to remove all air from the system and recheck oil level

2002 Nissan Altima with an oil leak

Don't forget to change the filter with each oil change. When you change the oil, the soot from combustion sticks to the inside of the motor and does not all come out with the oil. Also there is always a little old oil here and there in the motor that does not drain out, and that will give it's color to the new oil. You can have your motor rinsed, but it is more important to change the filter regularly. Stay with one brand of oil, don't switch around. You can change the viscosity (30w/40w) from summer to winter. It's not a great idea to have thick oil in a motor if it gets below freezing outside. A rattle can be a heat shield coming loose, you'll have to have help to find it.
