I have a 1984 chevy blazer, i need to know how to put in 4 wheel drive and how to take it our of 4 wheel drive. thank you

full size blazer? if so do you know if you have auto locking hubs on front or manual? the manual will have a dial to turn to lock or free. to shift into 4 high this can be done by just moving the shifter into 4hi at slow speeds. to shift into 4lo need to be in nuetral with vehicle stopped or rolling just a little bit like 1-2mph shift into 4 lo and shift back into drive same when shifting back into 2hi from low range.

My 93 s10 blazer 4wd it will go in high an low rang but will not lock in

On all the 90s s-10s there is a vacuum actuator under the battery tray and a vacuum switch on the transfer case itself. It is comon for the switch on the t-case to go bad and keep the front axle from engageing. If the front axle doesnt engage the truck will not have four wheel drive.let me know if this helped.

92 full size blazer shifts into 4 high and low and won't engage

I have a 93 full size blazer and might be able to help. First you need to ensure that your are actually not engaging the hubs. To do this, shift into 4H or 4L and try to turn very sharply. If it is difficult to move forward with the wheel turned all the way, you are probably in 4WD and the indicator light may be out.

If the truck drives as it does in 2H, your front diff is not engaging. If this is the case, there is a thermostatically engaged actuator that may have failed. These fail occasionally and can be purchased at most auto part stores or at the dealership. Before you buy a new one, use a voltmemter to ensure that voltage is present at the actuator when you engage 4H or 4L.

I know several companies make a manual pull cable style activator that can replace the thermostatically engaged unit.

1993 4X4 BLASER 4WHEEL DRIVE

Your blazer is equipped with a shift on the fly four wheel drive. That means that at speeds less than fifteen miles per hour you can shift into or out of four wheel drive by simply pushing the four wheel high button. If you wish to shift into four wheel low. Stop, put the transmission into park or neutral, and push the four wheel low button. Same procedure for shifting back out. Never shift into or out of four wheel low while moving. And be careful in four wheel low. At full throttle your still barely moving, you don't want to blow your engine up!

Four wheel won't engage

Theres a vacume dash pot under the battery box. It pulls a cable that engages the front diff. Put the vacume line and you'll have lights and four wheel drive. (it happened to my blazzer)

On the front diff you will find an electric plug. Unplug this, then remove the 2 bolts and pull out the solenoid plunger. Replace this and way ya go! Frankster016
