My 97 Taurus has code P0411. What do I need to do to fix this problem? The check engine light keeps coming on and it needs smog.

That code indicates that there is a air pump to decrease the amount of harmful fumes thru the exhust system the air pump maybe failing causing the code

If he didn't clear the computer fault codes the light will come back on. Usually the light will go off after about 30 miles of driving after the problem is fixed if the codes were not manually cleared. Take your car to another mechanic.

You need to find out what the codes are in the computer that are causing the engine light to come on,then repair the problem,You will spend a lot of money not doing so.
