I have a 2001 Pontiac Montana minivan that is misfiring stalling and cutting out. I put in fuel additive thinking it might be the injectors and premium gasoline . Could this be a bad fuel filter?

It could be a timing issue (misfire) but it absolutely could also be either air or fuel filter. If it's starving for fuel, it's the fuel filter. If it's starving for air (too rich), it would also stall out and that could be the air filter. Basically, you need 4 things to make an engine work: compression, air, fuel, and spark.

SOURCE: How do you know if you need to change a fuel

UR OWNERS MANUAL WILL LET U KNOW. ALSO, IF U EXPERIENCE STALLING OR HARD START PROBLEMS.
INJECTOR TROUBLES ARE GENERALLY POOR MILEAGE, MISFIRING, HARD STARTING.
MANY IN TANK FUEL PUMPS U CAN HEAR WORKING, GENERALLY WHEN U TURN TO KEY ON. ONCE U HAVE THE MOTOR RUNNING, U MAY NOT HEAR THE PUMP RUNNING. IF U DO, I WOULD HAVE IT LOOKED AT.

SOURCE: 2001 Pontiac Montana - what is a misfire #5?

Without your actual trouble code, I am assuming that you are have a misfire on cylinder # 5. The computer cannot really tell what is causing the misfire only that cyl 5 is not putting out full power. If it misfires when cold then smooths out as it warms up, I would say it is probably an injector that is sticky, as it warms up it starts working properly.

Testimonial: "Thank you for your suggestion. I will have that checked out. I will also ask my mechanic what the actual trouble code says."

SOURCE: my 2001 pontiac montana minivan is misfiring on plug 6 and 3 and the van has strong gas smell and the van shakes real bad

you should conduct spark test in spark plug on high tension wire and compression test in the that plug 6&3 strong gas smell is the result of unburn fuel!!!!but the best solution to bring the car to the expert!!!!!!

Why does Pontiac Montana stall at low idle? Why is it difficult to start once it's warmed up?

Might have your fuel pressure checked. You should have about 45lbs of pressure at the fuel rail.

Random misfire

I have an 01 impala 3800. After 2 months of searching for the source of the misfire that was causing my car to surge, stall, and generally not run well; I rebuilt my tranny, because it needed it, and in hopes of finding out something more. Well, when I put everything back together I stumbled on to a fuel leak on the rear fuel rail fuel supply line connector. In the process of trying to figure out what the problem was I\'ve been through many, many forums and a hellava lot of people have had the same problem and racked their brains and spent thousands of dollars. Long story short, I replace the connector with a $20 kit, right off the shelf of the local parts store, and the problem is fixed.

I have a 2006 Pontiac Montana and when I put gas in, It stalls. Then I give it a little gas and it runs. My husband thinks it the starter??????Tune up? Fuel Pump?? Thank you Mrs. C.

Hi Mrs. C
the starter is NOT the problem the starter only cranks the engine has nothing to do once its running
it could need a TUNE UP depending on the mileage
If this was my vehicle i would replace the fuel filter and check the fuel pressure before you spend money on replacing the fuel pump
and FLUSH the FUEL INJECTORS
hope this helps
