When you pull the switch to you that is flash to pass . Did you check fuse's ? There is a headlamp relay that could be bad or the dimmer switch could be bad . You can find a wiring diagram at http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Use wiring diagram to test for B+ voltage at headlamp switch , dimmer switch an also check ground circuit . If you find B+ voltage going into the switch but not out , there is your problem .

SOURCE: 2000 dodge ram headlights not working

Try this, take the steering colum cover off. Check the back of the multi function switch. Likely the ground wire is broke at the connector. I believe the ground wire is the second wire rom the top on the second row of wires. Unfortunately, the connector plugs inside the plastic houseing break and pull out. The fix isnt easy. You can either replace the entire wireing harness, or splice in some extra wire to take the strain off the plug. Good Luck

SOURCE: Turn Sigal wont work and headlights dim

You will need to use a test light to verify voltage at the turn signal flasher.
Turn the key on to the run position, car does not need to be started.
Set the turn signal switch to right or left turn, doesn't matter.
Probe the "purple" wire terminal at the flasher unit. If the turn signal switch is working properly, you will have voltage at the flasher unit.
If you do not have voltage, the switch may be the problem, make certain all connectors to the steering column are fully seated and there are no broken wires.
Good luck and let me know.

SOURCE: headlights dont work unless holding dimmer switch for bright lights

I would think the problem lies with the dimmer switch on the steering column, since this is a very expensive part please have a local dealer confirm my guess.

SOURCE: headlights wont work on dim, only bright

Check your head light bulbs, your truck has the dual filiment headlight bulbs one per side which does both high beam and low beam, 9007 bulbs.
If the low beam filiments are burned out only the high beam will work.
Also look into finding out if the headlight switch is gone bad.
The headlight module and or drl module maybe defective.

My headlights don't work when you cut them on. would it be a problem with the switch or the headlight relay?

yep, likely the relay. pulling the dimmer back brings Hi beam on. So check lo beam relay. You can swap relays (if you have checked they are the same) to test the diagnosis. I have also been tricked by both headlight bulbs blown, so don't forget to look at both

Why wont my 98 Explorer headlights shut off?

Headlight switch? Headlights don't use the fuse panels. Is there a delayed off for the headlights? If so, this module might be defective.

Headlights dont work

There is a relay and 2 fuses for the head lights. When you pull the lever back the high beams come on so the low beam on both bulbs could be burned out not unusual.

Why are my headlights cutting out when i turn my high beams on?

The problem will be due to a malfunctioning headlight dimmer switch and a dimmer switch connector. Also check the high beam connector.

98 corvette headlights not working

If you can verify current going out of the main dash switch towards the headlamps, then I would go relay hunting. My guess is the switch, since the brights and fog lamps work on demand (dimmer switch pulled).

This is very common. the headlight switch is bad. replace the switch and that should solve the problem.

i have run into some that the dash lights dont work at all or they come on and off while driving.
the switch goes bad. there is also a dimmer switch . the dimmer switch controls the dim or brightness off the lights.

the "dimmer switch" is part of the combination switch. They wear down, internally - I've taken apart a used one, so I know. Also, the headlamp connectors like to corrode on that model year ( I also have 96 civic, and had to replace a headlamp connector). https://www.hondapartsnow.com/parts-list/1996-honda-civic-4dr_ex-ka-4at/combination-switch.html (parts 8 and 9)

If your high beams come on only when you hold the lever, and you have no headlights otherwise, i would suggest it has to be the dimmer switch that is faulty. First, though, use a test light to see if you have power to the low beams. Just pull the bulb out, and test in the socket. If you have power there, the problem is just the bulbs. No... they didn't both burn out at once, but you don't notice until they are both gone. You meet cars all the time with one headlight. When the second one goes, they over think the problem.
The fact that your dimmer switch has to be held to get any headlights would lead me to believe it's the dimmer switch that is faulty.
