Does that front end jacked up too?
if yes, binding is cause. if yes, drop tie rods and find who binds.
if turns easy now, then the power steering is bad.
is the PS belt slipping?
do the pressure tests? in the book.

Testimonial: "Juriy Hawrylak:the front wheels with a jack jumped. with the engine turned off the steering wheel fifteen times to the left and to the right but was just as hard. And turned on when driving through the streets this normal, stiffens when moving sideways when not accelerated"

    THE PS BELT NOR SLIPPING

    i cant really understand this
    "but was just as hard."
    the tests i engine off.
    jacked.
why not take a good car , do this and learn.
jack it up, see, key off, steering a baby can turn. may be even Olive OIL (cartoon) can. weak arms.... see???
learn by going and trying good cars.

ok this is simple , I tried to help you but
the steering must be super easy to turn
front end jacked up. KEY OFF or steering system is binding, it has nothing to do with P/S at all.. during this key off tests.

the p/s (assist) has limited power, its not infinite.
that tells me the steering parts or ball joints are seized or tie rods ends.
why not get it fix?? its not hard. to find and fix at all... super easy.
any suspension shop can do that in 30min work
    what does he do ,????
well after the jack test fails.
he drops tie rods, to see what part of the system is sized then fixes it.

    is the pump making noise?
a pump with new fluid will make a huge noise
with air in the system. this is easy to fix
with a cap with a vacuum nipple i use hand vacuum pump suck 15"HG vacuum and no more air.

i have a jeep and dealer even sells this cap
    or i make one.
just covering problems you may have added,,
    by guessing.

Steering - Isuzu Trooper 2002

Your steering is power assisted. The pump is driven via a toothed wheel from the engine.
I would suspect something is obviously awry with the pump or there is no/low fluid in the system.

Steps for replacing pwr steering hoses on '94 3.1 Cutlass Supreme?

SERVICE PROCEDURE: THE POWER STEERING FLUID REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE IS A TWO-STAGE PROCESS: FIRST, FLUSHING THE OLD FLUID FROM THE SYSTEM WITH NEW FLUID; AND SECOND, BLEEDING THE SYSTEM TO REMOVE ANY TRAPPED AIR. THE FOLLOWING TWO SEQUENCES OUTLINE THE STEPS IN EACH PROCEDURE.

FLUSHING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM 1. RAISE THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE OFF THE GROUND UNTIL THE WHEELS ARE FREE TO TURN.

2. REMOVE THE FLUID RETURN LINE AT THE PUMP RESERVOIR INLET CONNECTOR.

3. PLUG THE INLET CONNECTOR PORT ON THE PUMP RESERVOIR.

4. POSITION THE FLUID RETURN LINE TOWARD A LARGE CONTAINER IN ORDER TO CATCH THE DRAINING FLUID.

5. WHILE A SECOND PERSON FILLS THE RESERVOIR WITH NEW LOW TEMPERATURE CLIMATE SERVICE FLUID, START AND RUN THE ENGINE AT IDLE.

6. TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FROM STOP TO STOP.

NOTICE: DO NOT HOLD THE WHEEL AGAINST STOPS WHILE FLUSHING THE SYSTEM. HOLDING STEERING WHEEL AGAINST WHEEL STOPS WILL CAUSE HIGH SYSTEM PRESSURE, OVERHEATING, AND DAMAGE TO THE PUMP AND/OR GEAR. 7. CONTINUE DRAINING UNTIL ALL OF THE OLD FLUID IS CLEARED FROM THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. ADDITION OF APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF NEW FLUID WILL BE REQUIRED TO FLUSH SYSTEM.

8. UNPLUG PUMP RESERVOIR INLET AND RECONNECT RETURN LINE.

9. TURN ENGINE OFF, AND FILL RESERVOIR TO THE "FULL COLD" MARK.

10. CONTINUE WITH FOLLOWING PROCEDURE "BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM".

BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM AFTER REPLACING THE FLUID OR SERVICING THE POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM, YOU MUST BLEED AIR FROM THE SYSTEM. AIR IN THE SYSTEM PREVENTS AN ACCURATE FLUID LEVEL READING, CAUSES PUMP CAVITATION NOISE AND OVER TIME COULD DAMAGE THE PUMP. TO BLEED THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:

1. BEGIN WITH THE ENGINE OFF, FRONT WHEELS OFF THE GROUND, AND WHEELS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT.

2. ADD LOW TEMPERATURE CLIMATE SERVICE FLUID TO THE "FULL COLD" MARK ON THE FLUID LEVEL INDICATOR.

3. BLEED THE SYSTEM BY TURNING THE WHEELS FROM SIDE TO SIDE WITHOUT HITTING STOPS.

IMPORTANT: THIS MAY REQUIRE TURNING THE WHEELS FROM SIDE TO SIDE TWENTY TIMES. ON SYSTEMS WITH LONG RETURN LINES OR FLUID COOLERS, TURNING STEERING WHEEL LOCK-TO-LOCK FORTY TIMES MAY BE REQUIRED. KEEP THE FLUID LEVEL AT THE "FULL COLD" MARK. FLUID WITH AIR IN IT HAS A LIGHT TAN APPEARANCE. THIS AIR MUST BE ELIMINATED FROM THE FLUID BEFORE NORMAL STEERING ACTION CAN BE OBTAINED. 4. START THE ENGINE. WITH THE ENGINE IDLING, RECHECK THE FLUID LEVEL. IF NECESSARY, ADD FLUID TO BRING THE LEVEL TO THE "FULL COLD" MARK.

5. RETURN THE WHEELS TO THE CENTER POSITION. LOWER FRONT WHEELS TO THE GROUND. CONTINUE RUNNING THE ENGINE FOR TWO OR THREE MINUTES.

6. TEST THE VEHICLE TO BE SURE THE STEERING FUNCTIONS NORMALLY AND IS FREE FROM NOISE.

IMPORTANT: INSPECT FOR FLUID LEAKAGE AT CONNECTION POINTS ALONG THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM. 7. RECHECK THE FLUID LEVEL AS DESCRIBED IN STEPS 3 AND 4 EXCEPT THAT THE FLUID LEVEL SHOULD NOW BE UP TO THE "FULL HOT" MARK AFTER THE SYSTEM HAS STABILIZED AT ITS NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE.

I can feel my trooper shift into 4x4 but I'm not

I had this happen on my 94 automatic. 4x4 "engages" but no power to front wheels. One of the front axles went bad so the 4x4 doesn't engage on either front wheel. It was a $800 fix.

I drive a 1997 isuzu trooper, and the steering wheel locked, how do i go about unlocking it?

you need the ignition key to unlock it, if it doesn't work with the key you may need a new key.

1996 isuzu trooper steering wheel won't unlock

Firstly, if your steering wheel will rotate about an inch, while in the locked position, do the following:

1) swing the wheel as far as it goes, then hold it tightly in position (it may want to return back to position, butdon't let it go!)

2) insert key into ignition, and turn key to "ON", not start.

3) see if steering wheel will now release...

Please advise if this works...

If no, then need to go to next step...

Await your response....

Power steering heavy turning left in isuzu rodeo 4x4

check the power steering pump, if its good than it will be rack and pinion issue. the pump create a high pressure to help assist with steering, and the rack and pinion work like hydraulic cylinder which receive the pressure from the pump and the steering work like control valves. by turn left or right you controling the pressure to make the wheels turn either right or left. check and see if you have any leaks.
