SOURCE: 2001 Chevrolet Silverado How to remove rear axle

Remove...
wheels, drums or rotors, the cover for the differential (You will need a drip pan)
remove the "pin" (usually a 5/15" or 8mm head) that secures the spider gear pin. Remove the long spider gear pin, as it should slide out without a lot of force.
Push both axles inward, and remove the left and right "c" clips that hold the axles in.
Note... if you have a limited slip, it may be a little different of a set up due to clutches in the differential.

I want to see a picture or a diagram of where the vacuum line for reverse is on a 2001 2500 Chevrolet silverado

there is no vacuum line for reverse. the transmission uses fluid and silanoids inside for reverse. if reverse isn't working the low/reverse band is blown. you can test it by driving and manually downshifting into 1 and if it downshifts through all gears but wont downshift into 1st (feel the truck slowing down from engine braking) then your band is broken. time for a trans rebuld

Truck will not move when shift into drive or reverse

your trans is toasted.drop your trans pan and look for black sediment in the bottom of the pan.you may even find some hard parts.

Duramax does not rev over 2100 rpm???? does not shift properly can not get into overdrive unless it is a steep downhill grade.

this will be a faulty rev limiter. there are sensors that control all of this connected to the rev limiter. If this fix does not work, it is a problem witth your computer
