Check the fuses first, swap relays. If that doesn't work. Takes a scanner to see what is not working. If the PCM is getting the signal, then look to the wiring to the fuse panel, to the relays. Cold be the relay/fuse panel.

SOURCE: cooling fans on 2001 chevy malibu will not come on unless ac on

the relays control circuit is grounded by ECM (computer) . to check this make sure the is hot enough for the fans to be commanded on by computer and check to see if you have voltage at relay and it has ground from computer . you may need ECM.
good luck

SOURCE: 95 grand am radiator fan only runs with AC on

Cooling Fan Temp Sensor is the First thing You Check (with what you have described) Cooling Fan Should ALways come On When The A/C is turned On as A/C Adds A Load to Engine, If Temp Sensor is Faulty it Will Not Give GROUND Signal to ECM >For COOLING FAN >RELAY to Give ground and turn ON The Fan.
There ARE 2 temp Sensors that Serve Different Purposes 1 is for Dash READING GAGE & Or TEMP LIGHT the Other is For ECM or Fan Relay (SAME Thing) you Said>""can disconnect the sensor and fan continues to run" < This Leads me to think you Changed the Wrong One. Not Questioning your Skills Just Here to Help.
TEMP SENSOR FOR 3.1L V6 is Located upper RH rear of engine compartment, near exhaust system. Temp SENSOR for 2.3L Engine is Located in LH rear of engine compartment.
I Hope this Helps Lead you to a NON-OVERHEATING Pontiac.
Good Luck and Have A Great Evening. rejakwilson

SOURCE: Fuel Filter in Freelander (replacing)

The fuel filter is located below the electrics box, half way between the battery and the bulkhead on the passenger side, under the bonnet. It is very difficult to see how it all fits, but it has a central screw which holds the plastic filter housing/mounting in place. Find this screw (which is a small self tapper) and be prepared to loose it, or use a magnetic screw driver. Then lift the plastic housing up and away, (towards the engine) be ready with loads of rags to catch the diesel fuel when you disconnect the pipes. There is an earth wire attached to the housing also. (anti interference, I think) It is quite a fiddle getting it back again, as it has two locating lugs on the back of the plastic housing/mounting.

Rover 25 1.4 2004 hot engine and radiator fan problem

Yes, it is possible to install a thermostat backwards, though unlikely. If the thermostat isn't opening properly, the hot engine coolant won't be flowing over the cooling fan switch and give you high temps. I would first determine if the thermostat was opening at all, and if it is, is it opening at the proper temp. I have had many new thermostats that, while new, didn't work correctly. To check the cooling fan motor, turn on the AC(if equipped) and the fan should engage. If no AC, disconnect the cooling fan switch, and the fan should engage. Check for power and ground at the fan motor. If you have both power and ground, the fan motor is faulty

01 freelander condenser/cooling fan donot switch off

DII thermostat works. At idle it pretty much redirects hot coolant into the water pump. Dumb system that works of coolant pressure and not temperature.bad thermostat or water pump or cloged sytem your vehicle thermostat is different then most vehicles your vehicle thinks its over heating when its not i would start by changeing the thermostat and haveing a radiator flush done ive learned something new today happy holidays god bless

2002 landrover freelander cooling fan assembly

The fan module is the big silver box with fins on it, right next to the fans. Just follow the fan cables and you will find it. Don't jumper the fans without unplugging or you may destroy the power transistors in the fan unit. Check the temperature sensor for the fan control unit - near the front of the engine - it should have some resistance - not be short circuit or open circuit, it is a sensor, not a switch. If short or open, that is likely to be the problem, otherwise, ensure that the control units have electrical supply, otherwise, it is very likely to be the control unit.

2005 Land Rover Freelander aux fans staying on too

The first thing you need to note is if the temperature is normal whilst you are using the car, if it is then it is probably just a sticking thermostat and to be honest that is not a great problem, however if your car is running hot whilst driving you need to check your coolant level which can be seen in a spherical bottle at the rear (left side I think) of the engine compartment ( DO NOT OPEN THE TOP OF THIS BOTTLE UNTIL THE ENGINE IS COOL ) if the level of coolant is low top it up, also look for debris around the radiator grill and keep the air flow path open.

If everything seems ok but the fan still runs excessivly leave another thread and I will explain how to faulf find the circuit to check the thermostat.

Fan keep runnig all the time

You have a faulty temp sensor in your radiator, if you can see the rad look around the outside of the rad and look for a round sensor with two wires coming from it, it looks like a brass hexegon nut, Got to land rover and ask for a radiator temp switch for the fan. they are easy to change if you have a wrench to fit it, you will lose a little fluid so be sure to top up your coolant after fitting. Hope this helps [email protected]
