Here is the serpentine belt routing for a 2013 VW CC with a V6 3.6 liter engine:
Start by locating the automatic belt tensioner on the front of the engine.
Route the belt around the crankshaft pulley at the bottom of the engine.
From there, route the belt around the idler pulley, which is just above the crankshaft pulley.
Next, route the belt around the alternator pulley, which is located on the top left side of the engine.
After the alternator, route the belt around the power steering pump pulley, which is located on the top right side of the engine.
From there, route the belt around the water pump pulley, which is located just above the power steering pump.
Finally, route the belt around the tensioner pulley, which should be the last pulley in the belt routing.
Double-check that the belt is properly seated on each pulley and that the routing matches the diagram on the engine or in the owner's manual before starting the engine.
you should start with the belt and place it onto the bottom pulley, and then route it onto the power steering pump, and then continue to route it onto the remaining pulleys, you will have to use a 13" or 14" metric wrench or the same size socket and a 3/8 " ratchet to hold back onto the tensioner in order to route the belt in position for the tensioner to hold, once you have the belt at the tensioner area, hold back on to the tensioner, and let the tensioner loose slow ly so that it will hold the tension against the belt, double check the routing of the belt, before starting the car.
For the 3.0L Vulcan, you have a tensioner that is located just below the power steering pully. Use a 15mm wrench or the 15mm shallow well socket that comes in a Serpentine Belt tool to push the tensioner toward the rear of the engine compartment. Take the old belt off and route the new belt. The belt begins at the crankshaft pully, goes under and around the a/c compressor, up around the power steering pump, around (with the flat edge) the idler pully, around the alternator, the flat edge then sits against the tensioner and back around to the water pump pully. You should have a belt routing diagram on the underside of the hood just above the serpentine pully assembly.
First note the route of the belt. make a drawing.
Adjustments are made by moving the power steering pump. far right of belt system.
loosen top fixed bolt above center of drive wheel on p/s pump.
loosen bolt below drive wheel on p/s pump.
Push p/s pump to the left to loosen belt.
Remove old belt .replace following route of your drawing.
move p/s pump to right .
top of belt should have 1/2 inch deflection.
tighten bolts
The end
