Get the VIN number of the vehicle from the lower left-hand corner of the windshield. Contact the local Dodge dealer with the VIN number. Be prepared to show proof of ownership of the vehicle (title, registration, bill-of-sale). They can cut a replacement key for you.

You will just do more damage to the truck. Go to a dodge dealer, they can make you a key from vehicle ID number.

Hardly a chance of doing that because only the key or proper diagnostic equipment will disable the immobiliser that is integrated into the engine management computer.

The computer could be decoded if sent to a specialist or a local auto locksmith or the dealer will be needed to provide a new key and to recode the system. Whichever you decide a key will be needed to unlock the steering/gearchange.

I always say any car without a complete literature pack and at least two keys usually isn't worth the money being asked for it, however low that price is...

Put in new fuel pump and it still doesn't start, no power to pump. whats wrong?

When the anti theft system was created, the dealers forgot to tell the new car buyers about how much the fob matters to the vehicle, without it,owners are stuck, your anti theft device is activated, you need to lock and unlock your doors a couple times with the key fob,not the key,and then you need to put the key in the ignition and start it,if you dont have your key fob, call your car dealer to get a new one, they are programmed for each car only, you cannot bypass it.if you lost your fob or never had it,whatever, you need to have the exact fob that came with that car from the factory, the key and fob have a chip in them that only go to that certain car,if you do not have it,then you need to buy a new one from the dealer or ebay and then you need to contact your dealer about programming the fob to your car,you might not have to have it towed if they have the documents from the car,the only other way is to get a junk car, with the steering column, key, fob and all computer boxes and door locks and switch them,i just did that with a 98 dodge dakota, and it works.

Try wiggling the steering wheel left and right as you turn the key - sometimes the steering wheel lock can stop the key from turning if there is pressure on it.

Cannot get the key to turn engine on without really trying to turn the steering wheel - now happening daily.

do you mean to unlock it beause its got hard & when you move the steering wheel it unlocks!
if so its because the steering column where the lock mechanism fits is worn or has burrs on it from all the use its had over time!

you will have to take the steering wheel off and the steering collum apart to find the rod that actuates the real ignition switch..the thing you stick your key in..is not really the ignition switch....its just a key tumbler..and it would be best that a professional replace the key tumbler..because it is difficult to drill out..i know this isnt what you wanted to hear..but i hope it helps
