The switch is on opposite side of key or tumbler. remove plastic around column and see switch which is round about 1 in thick and lost of wires. just remove retainer screw and pull out on switch. you can activate switch with blade screwdriver to test.

Have a 00 crown Vic that won't start..Dont here the the fuel pump come. One mechanic said the key is not sending signal, yetlocksmith check the key and he said good.itspoining to fuel pump

The lock cylinder and ignition switch are two different things. The mechanic probably meant the IGN switch isn't providing the right signal.

Where can find instructions or video on replacing the ignition switch NOT THE KEY IGNITION OR LOCK CYLINDER - rather the ignition switch that has a post that moves as you turn the key- 2004 Crown Vic?

i think that you are referring to the steering wheel lock mechanism

if there is a you tube on that procedure, that is what you will be looking for

If that is the case , the easiest procedure is to undo the "u" joint at the base of the steering column inside the car and remove the wheel and column as a unit

the bolts that hold that section to the column are sacrificial bolts and when the correct tension is reached , the heads snap off making illegal removal extremely difficult

getting to the remainder of the bolts needs space and with the column still in the car ---very difficult

Lost keys - 1997 Crown Vic - How do I drill out the ignition switch?

Before you do any drilling get your vehicle identification number and call the dealership and they might be able to cut you a key.You will probably have to give them some identification to show that you own the vehicle. This would be a lot easier than drilling the lock cylinder out.Hope this helps.Good luck.
