SOURCE: Car stalls when driving

Take notes , when this happens.
For instance : engine warm or cold , outside conditions (cold , hot) , car driven for a while , long or short distance when problem occures etc.... , that may help for diagnosis.
It very well may be temperature relaited , sience it has to sit (cool off) for 5 min.
Ignition coils sometime do that.
I'm mechanic shop owner and intermittent problems are the hardest one , so any piece of iformation on above mentioned events may give a clue.
Good luck.
Greg.

My 1998 Buick Regal GS - we started having issues with the steer column. If it got moved to a lower or higher position, car would act like it wanted to die. So we put it in the furthest position up and...

Plenty of repair shops out there, someone could actually look at the car, that would help if you really wanted to get it fixed. However what I would do is get under the dash with a good light. There is a wiring bundle which connects all the doodads on the steering wheel and column to the wiring harness of the car. That bundle is connected to the car's wiring harness with a large plug in type male to female connector. Moving the wheel up and down may have dislodged that connector over the years, making the electrical connections hit or miss.

You may have to remove some cosmetic dash panels, look on youtube.com for a video of that. But find that connector and make sure both the parts are fully snapped together. If that does not do it then you are going to have to consider taking it to a shop where they do car electrical diagnosis. If you find the connector, and shoving it back together fixes the problem, put the steering wheel in one position and leave it there, do not let anyone else drive the car, ever, until you sell it or scrap it.
