2002 Buick Regal LS, Had the instrument cluster repaired for lights dimming but 2 years later the gauges have stopped working and the lighting is out again also. Could this be a ground issue?

This is more than likely an internal fault in the instrument cluster since the other lights stay bright and you can control them. I suspect that you may need to remove the cluster and have it rebuilt to cure this problem

Take the instrument cluster out of the vehicle an take it a part an replace the blubs .If all your gauges work you need to watch that part . How to Fix GM Speedometer Instrument Lighting

well not really, if you can take out the whole instrument cluster yourself from the dash you can send it out to have it repaired

the instrument cluster is bad, very common. Check with a auto parts store that can get a DORMAN reman cluster, part #599-328 if it has tach, oil gauge, DIC, or #599-327 without DIC (Drivers Info Center)

In the 99 Regal, the headlamp switch is also the dimmer switch for the instrument cluster.
With the headlights on, try rotating the switch to bring up the "nighttime" intensity.
If the headlight switch has a pre-set dimming function for the instrument cluster lighting (in other words, not adjustible by rotating the knob), then
replacement of the headlight switch would be the only way to fix the instrument cluster lighting problem.

it is a few resistors that need to be replaced/ resoldered.

i found it once when searching buick instrument cluster repair..

btw..if your odometer lights are out.or dim .its the same fix for the instrument cluster

It is your Instrument cluster, see my answers to this question and write me if you have any more questions, it cost me a total of no more than $15 dollars to fix it myself, took be about one hour.

4 resistors on the back of cluster bad get them at radio shack.
