Any of the automatic solenoids
in your case start testing the shift solenoids

pan off to replace

the 2009 ford explorer obd2 diagnostic port
will read the transmission fault codes
will be from P 1700 to p 1900

Start with simply changing filter and fluid for transmission. If that doesn,t work go to your local parts place and scan the codes on your vehicle. I have the same problem and that is what I am doing.

My at transmission does not shift through its gears or downshift when manually downshifting.fluid level on dip stick is good.

when you checked the fluid level was the engine running? to check auto fluid in gearbox the engine has to be running to be correct

Transmission does not downshift evey time

THIS IS MOST OFTEN CAUSED BY AN INTERNAL LEAK INSIDE THE TRANS MISSION, TRY CHANGING THE FLUID AND FILTER AND ADDING A CAN OF LUCAS OIL BRAND TRANS FLUID STOP LEAK AND CONDITIONER, THIS MAY CURE THE PROBLEM.
