You checked the fuel pump for power and verified there is no power to the pump? Remember the pump only runs for about 1 second unless the engine starts.

If your power plant to the fuel pump has no power u can run a new 12 volt wire to the pump make sure it's hooked up as an accessory so it will shut off the pump when you turn off your car
Check inlet hose from tank for leaks , check for obstruction , or collapsed hose check tank pickup . Try pressure testing pump output for proper pressure check injectors ....
fuel pump sounds to be problem, though I'd replace air cleaner first to rule it out cheaper than pump (pump may have internal filters that are blocked)
