The P0780 codes is detected when no rotation change occurs between input (turbine revolution sensor) and output (revolution sensor) and shifting time is long or when shifting ends immediately or when engine revs up unusually during shifting.

Could be a few things that could cause this.

- Low transmission fluid level - Dirty transmission fluid - Faulty shifting solenoid valve - Shifting solenoid valve harness is open or shorted - Shifting solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection

So I would check with car running and in park and car engine warmed up. Check to make sure you have enough transmission fluid in the vehicle. It's most likely not this bit worth a check. My personal experience with these Nissans is the shift solenoid. It could be a loose connection or it could be disconnected at the connector altogether. If it has a good connection then it's the shift solenoid. Hope this helps

Its quite a list of possibles all transmission related

P0780 OBD II Trouble Code

Common Problems That Trigger the P0780 Code

  • Defective Shift Solenoids
  • Defective Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
  • Defective Torque Converter Lockup solenoid
  • Defective Torque Converter Clutch
  • Defective Transmission Range Sensor
  • Defective Valve Body
  • Dirty transmission fluid that restricts the hydraulic passages
needs to go to a automatic transmission work shop

first you could ..check the oil level
if transmission oil is brownish and smelling burnt = bad sign
fit a used gearbox would be cheaper than a rebuild

Code p 0780 refers to gear selection--shift malfunction===causes --wiring --TR( transmission range) sensor--shift solenoids ---transmission mechanical fault
take it to an accredited auto transmission specialist shop for an exact diagnosis of the fault
I seriously doubt that you have a transmission box mechanical fault so get a second opinion if a replacement transmission is suggested

An easy thing to check first is your air filter. If it is clogged, it can cause that problem. I speak from experience. Had the exact same thing happen with an '85 Oldsmobile.

Why cant my 2005 dodge stratuss pick up speed when i press on gas pedal

Sounds like a transmission problem, specifically that perhaps the transmission fluid is low if your truck has an automatic transmission, or the clutch is slipping terribly if it has a manual transmission.

Nissan maxima has check engine light on and is losing acceleration on the road.

If this is a deisel then it's probably some sensor malfunction. It could be one of the sensors in the exhaust system or a simple electrical fault - I have been told it can happen if even just one brake-light bulb is broken

Check the transmission for leaks and fluid level. And fix as needed. However, seems like your transmission is slipping.
