How do I reset the anti theft device on a 1998 ford Taurus?

Can I reset anti-theft ???? Not unless you have a $3,000 factory scanner . Your best bet , have it towed to the dealer

Try pulling the fuse for the anti theft system and starting. If the car starts normally, then the problem is with the theft system. The theft system will reset itself after a period of time.

Have you checked for codes in ECM ? How do you know that your anti theft is causing your no start problem ?

How do you know anti-theft needs to be reset ,Is the security light on or flashing ? Maybe a wiring connector didn't get hooked up correctly .

replacing battery more likely erase ECM memory.best to start vechicle let enginet idle until ECM relearn memory.your vechicle has to complete full drive cycle before ECM MEMORY return if not let dealership reset engine idle.

it sounds like your anti theft may have gone out. your ignition reads the resistance of your key. if it matches the computer the car will turn on, if it doesnt the car will do what it is doing to you right now because it thinks you are using the wrong key. you may need to take it to someone with a scan tool and see if the computer can be reset.
