Take it back but go to the dealer, these are all related codes and need a Subaru expert to diagnose the cause.

Do I need to reset crank sensor after installing timing belt

P0016 refers to the Cam shaft sensor and crank sensor not in sync , the P0011 refers to Variable Valve timing and Variable Camshaft Timing , as the P0016 has shown i would expect that is the issue between these sensors and the PCM , dont waste your time and money on trying to get a cheap fix this is a know issue with VW and a VW dealer will have the appropriate equipment to readily rectify the issue, i think this link will show why is best to go to a VW dealer, but the choice is yours , incidently there is no need to check for electrical issue as is a component based issue so a waste of time and money if your mechanic does the se first tests

How to fix fault p0021 and engine failsafe program

(powertrain control module, also called an ECM). That consists of a few different components but the P0021 DTC specifically refers to the camshaft (cam) timing. In this case, if the cam timing is above a set limit (over-advanced), the engine light will be illluminated and the code will be set. The "A" camshaft is either the intake, left, or front camshaft. A P0021 engine code is basically the same as a P0011 code, except this is for Bank 2, not Bank 1.
Symptoms Possible sumptoms of OBD code P0021
Most likely a P0021 DTC will result in one of the following: hard starting, poor idle, and/or stalling. There are potentially other symptoms as well. Of course, when trouble codes are set, the MIL (malfunction indicator lamp, a.k.a. the check engine light) illuminates.
Causes Possible causes of OBD code P0021
A P0021 DTC trouble code may be caused by one or more of the following:
Possible Solutions This DTC code is a result of a mechanical fault of the VCT unit or related components, so there is no need for electrical diagnosis. Refer to vehicle specific repair manual to perform component tests for the VCT unit. Notes: Dealer techs have advanced tools and the ability to follow detailed troubleshooting steps, including the ability to test components using a scan tool.

Cx 7 mazda cel codes P0011 and P0016

Causes may include:
  • Timing chain stretched, or timing belt skipped a tooth due to wear
  • Misalignment of timing belt/chain
  • Tone ring on crankshaft slipped/broken
  • Tone ring on camshaft slipped/broken
  • Bad crank sensor
  • Bad cam sensor
  • Damaged wiring to crank/cam sensor
  • Timing belt/chain tensioner damaged
  1. First, visually inspect the cam and crank sensors and their harnesses for damage. If you notice broken/frayed wires, repair and recheck.
  2. If you have access to a scope, check the cam and crank patterns. If a pattern is missing, suspect a bad sensor or a slipping tone ring. Remove the cam gear and the crankshaft harmonic balancer and inspect the tone rings for proper alignment and make sure they're not loose or damaged or that they haven't sheared the key that aligns them. If they are properly installed, replace the sensor.
  3. If the signal appears normal, then check the timing chain/belt for proper alignment. If it's misaligned, check for a damaged tensioner that may have allowed the chain/belt to slip a tooth or several teeth. Also check that the belt/chain isn't stretched. Repair and recheck
