Have the codes read at Autozone. Check out the wiring to the speed sensor on the output shaft of the gearbox. Be prepared to change the speed sensor itself. Is the speedo functioning? Often when the speed sensor is faulty the speedo dial fails

it sounds like it is overheating have you changed the fluid recently? does it have a transmission cooler?
These CVT transmissions were never built to be capable of extended offroad driving unless you have the necessary coolers etc

SOURCE: where does the coolant go in my nissan serena.

The container you are talking about is called the overflow reservoir and yes, that is where you add the coolant. Make sure that your car has been off for a couple hours and is nice and cool before you try to add any, when it's hot it can build pressure and spray coolant or steam out when you unscrew the cap.

SOURCE: i need to refill my gearbox oil of my 1996 model nissan sentra

I assume its a standard transmission.
Should be a threaded plug on the top of trans , or 1/2 way up on the side.
If auto trans , add fluid through dipstick tube.

SOURCE: what type of gearbox auto transmission oil?

dexron 3 .
better yet use synthetic from BG which surpasses all transmission fluids and warranty requirements.

SOURCE: 1997 Jaguar XK8 "Gearbox fault" (Auto) doesn't want to go

I'm not familiar with the jag but my ford is similar( no dipstick). I'm led to believe these are designed to prevent overfilling, which can blow out the seals. I undo the top pipe which goes to my radiator to cool the trany fluid, then get a 1/2 metre length of plastic tube to fit between the disconnected pipe and a 1 litre bottle of fluid. I then squeeze the fluid in that way....no more than a litre at a time, then try driving it again..Hope this helps.

When driving at over 2000 raves, the gears disengage to gear 1, this will only change after the car cools completely. This the same Nissan Serena 2003 model.

When a vehicle regularly goes into 'limp home mode' after it has been running for while and the engine gets hot this points to a speed sensor electrical issue. Do you see any indication that he speedo dial behaves oddly when the engine enters into lomp home? First I would have the vehicle checked for diagnostic trouble codes (Autozone can do this) but my best guess is that you will be looking at swapping out the speed sensor on the output shaft of the gear box

Where is speed sensor located on 2003 sentra

The speed sensor is usually the speedo drive head that fits onto the top and rear of the gearbox. It usually is secured by a 10mm bolt.and slides out(round). It is fitted to a multi wired plug.Although if it is the CVT trans things are a little different. These trans have a fault of sticking in low when hot(usually after stop/start traffic).Let me know if it is this fault.
I hope this helps you.

MY RAV4 KEEPS JUMPING OUT OF 5TH GEAR

worn gearbox or engine mounts allowing the gearbox to move and unlatch the shift linkage from its position, or the shift linkage is mal-adjusted and not properly engaged in 5th gear at all.

There may be a knuckle joint that can be adjusted to give correct shifter operation, it may be out of adjustment. GM cars are prone to this after reversing uphill in a manual car, your Nissan may be similar. The engine moves away from the area of the shift lever and pulls the knuckle joint out further than it is supposed to be and causes the gears not to enage securely any more.
