Expansion valves are ALWAYS located at the inlet of the evaporator coil

Are you adapting the unit for a different refrigerant? Expansion valves are usually located on the line going to the evaporator from compressor. Could be right by the evaporator or a tad further back.
Make sure that you use the correct size so the right amount of "flashing" is created for the system.

Number 7 in the picture is the expansion valve. The entire dash assembly must be removed to access this valve. You could be 7-8 hours labor to replace it

t isn't necessary to remove the wiper or the false bulkhead cover. the valve is accessible in the engine compartment with simply removing the air collector and air box. These instructions had me baffled because all i was exposed to when i removed the wiper system was the cabin fan. The valve is located on the passenger side directly under the power steering rack. its hard to see right off, so if you have a hard time
finding it, locate the large and small medal pipes and follow them to the firewall and you'll see the valve. After finding it, it took about 30 mins
