SOURCE: program remote control for mazda mpv 2002

Courtesy of: forums.mazdaworld.org

Try this, it works on several 2002 models:

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the drivers door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the drivers door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done

SOURCE: 2002mazda mpv the valves rattle alot when engine

They can be adjusted, though it is outside the range of the home mechanic. Most problems like this are caused by poor oiling. Your post says it is a 2002 model, which probably called for 5w20 or 5w30 oil. That is what you use for the first 100,000 miles or so. Next oil change, move up a grade on the oil, say to 10w30. You can also add a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer in place of a quart of oil. It helps alot. Hope this helps :)

Where is the bank 2 o2 sensor located on a 2004 Mazda MPV LX

bank 2 is the cylinder in the front of the engine compartment near the radiator, the O2 is either in the exhaust manifold of the bank or in the exhaust pipe off the manifold, round about the size of a jumbo magic marker, you need a special O2 sensor socket to remove it in some cases, if it is in the open then a 7/8 open end wrench will work.

    Hexhaust manifold gasket

most replacements of exhaust manifold gasket are due to leaks. first you have to loosen the exhaust pipe close to the manifold to gain access to the manifold. loosen the manifold bolts and replace the gasket. unfortunately, most times you'll discover that the manifold bolts are rusted...that might make the job a bit more tedious and technical. in that case, the manifold will be accessed from up after bringing down the engine
