It all started off with my 2008 City Golf (Canadian Model) rear wiper going a bit nutty. The wiper would wipe even when it was not on. I removed #27 fuse (motor for rear windshield wiper) and it was still wiping. After some time and fiddling with a few fuses.... my car wouldn't start at all. I have been looking but cannot locate a diagram for the fuse box. I'm pretty sure I placed fuses in the incorrect locations. I tried calling the dealership and asked for a step to step phone call diagnosis to help me place the fuses in the correct locations... and they said I had to bring my car in. I couldn't do so, for my car wouldn't start. After some frustration, I gave up. I need your help! Please send a diagram of the side fuse panel to get my car running again!! Thank you

Buy removing fuses to find the problem you have activated the immobilizer ( same as removing the battery)
call a mobile mechanic with a scan tool to reset the ECM and get the car going again
try going google and typing in ---schematic wiring diagram for vw golf city 2008---and see what is available on pdf form for download
you may even do the same search for a vw golf workshop manual which will have the wiring diagram for the car in it

on our passat , the fuse box is on the left side (drivers) of the dash. You have to have the door open to see it. Sounds like your manual might be for a right hand drive vehicle.

There is also a fuse module located on the passenger side of the center console under the dash. You can pull the plastic cover panel off by hand. This should be where the wiper motor fuse is located.

****,. sounds like it could either be in the switch or the motor. You probably have something shorting over top of some connection inside -- is there any covers which are easy to remove on the motor unit? if so take a peek and see..
If this doesn't work, try stopping in at the local dealers parts department,. you might be able to get some information from the counter person, they see which parts **** out on certain vehicles and may already know the history of a certain problem... be nice, they are only parts and may try to shovel you off to the service department, so be cool, they may be helpful as well.
