Power tailgate on 2007 rx350 will not stay open

With the age of this vehicle, there is a good chance that the hydraulic struts can no longer easily lift, and keep the tailgate open...even though the electronics work OK.

2015 Sorento. Rear hatch closes but won't fully latch.

The striker probably needs adjusting - if it is a double sneck latch move the striker out a little and if it is just a single sneck latch it will need moving in.

A tailgate or rear hatch usually closes on to adjustable rubber buffers that often lose adjustment due to them "walking" over time. The aim is to strike a balance between the correct latching of the tailgate and pressure on the rubber buffers so the tailgate doesn't rattle and the finished position is where the gap between the tailgate and body is equal all the way around.

My tailgate sensor light wont go off. I have opened and closed my tailgate and tailgate window but the warning light will not go off which is cause all the dome lights to stay on in the jeep. please help

Even if the tailgate locks properly there may be something blocking the light switch. Happened to me after carting firewood and the trunk had lots of wood chips and sawdust. I cleaned it out with a paint brush and vacuum and the light was fine - but it did take a couple of tries!.

Tailgate light stays on

VEHICLES ARE DESIGNED TO TURN ON DOOR LIGHTS WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENED. IF IT TURNS OFF WHEN YOU CLOSE THE DOOR, THEN THAT IS NORMAL BY DESIGN BUT IF THE LIGHT REMAINS ON EVEN WHEN YOU PROPELY CLOSE THE DOOR, THEN YOU HAVE TO CHECK YOUR DOOR SWITCH.

TAILGATE LOCKS BUT BOOT LIGHT DOES NOT GO OUT OR GOES OUT THEN COMES BACK ON SO THEN THE ALARM COMES ON EVEN THOUGH THE TAILGATE REMAINS CLOSED AND LOCKED! REMOTE SYSTEM WORKS OK!

se if you can find the switch for the light and check to see if it works by pushing it in the switch will be a littel buton that gets pushed in when the door is closed

Door Ajar light and dinger, interior lights stay on, looking for a fuse diagram.

It drove me nuts too. Fortunately, the solution is both cheap and simple. There is a latch mechanism in each side of the tailgate which gets all filled with dirt and slime. The latch jaws start to stick and dont move far enough to close the door ajar switch inside the tailgate Spray each latch generously with WD40, wipe the mechanisms off with a rag, close the tailgate, open the tailgate and repeat the cleaning several times. As soon as you get everything freed up, the switch will be able to report that the tailgate is closed and the problems will be gone. If you want, afterwards you can spray a little lithium grease on the latches to keep things running smooth. You may need to use a screwdriver to completely pry open the jaws in conjunction with opening the tailgate handle to get them to open fully while you are washing and wiping them off. Now's a real good time to lubricate all the door hinges and latches including the sliding door. May as well put some oil on the hood hinges and hood latch too. It's not impossible to keep Fords on the road....just tricky......very tricky.

2005 Honda Odyssey Tailgate Problem

Try to reset the tailgate by removing the no.7 (7.5 amp) fuse in the underdash fuse box. Open and close the tailgate manually, reinstall the fuse, and try the open tailgate button. If that doesn't work you would have take it to the dealer, where they can check for DTC's (diagnostic trouble codes). Honda Al
