My wiper motor seems to have a siezed spindle. With it disconnected from the wiper and just on its own I can hear the motor running but no movement from the spindle is noted.

The windshield wiper motor for my 98 C200 w202 has been replaced, however the new (secondhand) one doesn't quite function properly either. Having it plugged in ready to go I turned the car to accessories and checked the motor. I can hear it spinning and moving however Im seeing no movement what so ever in the spindle. Is there a way to unsieze the spindle on these particular motors to fix them?

Then the wiper arm transmission is what is damaged not the motor
not lubricated properly is a main cause
if the spindles wont tighten up it is worn out

this wiper assembly should be replaced as a new unit
..used parts are not as reliable

How to remove complete wiper shaft behind dash.

Hi bit tricky but not hard you have to remove the dash panels to access the spindle mounts disconnect the cable from the motor and remove spindles and cable as a unit.
When I rebuild the units I lube with moly grease as well as the motor gears, seem to last longer with less effort.

How is it the windshield wipers were working fine. Now they do not operate. I hear the wiper motor running, but the wipers stay down with a slight jerking movement. What's wrong?

sounds like the linkage is broken/disaconnected, under the hood against the firewall is the wiper motor assy, behind that is the linkage something must be broken/disconnected

Driver side wiper does not move; passenger side wiper crosses over it

In view of the answer from jchaffcom I feel that if there is a Hex on the end of the Wiper Arm the Hex Nut needs Tightened. I have a 2004 Silverado and this is what happened to it. Simply tightening the Nut solved my problem. Try it and get back to me with the results whether good or bad.

Rear wiper of Audi A4 avant has stopped working

On Wiper systems the spindle mechanism can sieze up due to water ingress and corrosion.
This deteriates as you describe to the point it will not work, eventualy you may blow the fuse. A good thing as it protects your wiper motor.
New spindle may be reqiured although you may be able to dissmantle it and work some oil into it.
