When I lock my 2001 Acura MDX the red light on door lock does not light and flas on and off as it normally does and engine will not turn over

THE DOOR CATCH HAS A DOUBLE "C" THAT HOLDS THE DOOR CLOSED. FIRST TAKE A SCREWDRIVER INSIDE THE "C". USING THE HANDLE ON THE INSIDE, PULL THE HANDLE AS IF YOU WERE OPENING THE DOOR AND AT THE SAME TIME, OPEN THE DOUBLE "C" WITH THE SCREWDRIVER. I HOPE THIS HELPS. THANKS FOR USING FIX-YA. you may want to check the ground wire for the engine; if the car just shut down it's possibly an electrical. if the ends are corroded replace.

Take off the trim panel and see if you can see the servo that controls the locks push rod. It may have been disconeted, or broken, the ends are usually made of plastic. Also you will be able to see if it is even actuating when you press the lock/ unlock. Good luck!

You need to get the serial number off the sticker attached to the radio. It will require pulling apart your dash. Call an Acura dealership with that serial number and they should be able to provide you the code. Or you can take it directly to the dealer but you will be charged labor.
