Most computer controlled transmissions have what is called a pressure control solenoid. IF there is a problem in the transmission the computer may try to compensate by increasing pressure.

Also when a PC solenoid is bad it defaults to high pressure.

The 3rd gear neutralize is probably the reason for the high pressure. The longer you let it go the more damage that will be done to the transmission. If the vehicle is worth it, pay to get it fixed. It is a lot cheaper than buying a newer vehicle, and when you have your own car you know what it is.

Hope this helps.

likely the shift rails are worn inside the trans. In changing shift, you have removed the wear on the end of the stick, but not the corresponding wear where the stick fits into. It will need to be taken apart to repair this. (would not hurt to have synchros replaced at the same time.) OR, replace transmission if you have an inexpensive one available.

SOURCE: 2005 Chevy Avalanche Transmission Problem

i had the same problem, its the torque converter. I took my 05 c/a in because i was having shifting problem, the long and short of it is there is a breather on the tranmission that sucks in water from the road. the water and the atf dont mix. the dealer put in a torque converter and changed the fluid and installed a redesigned transmission breather.

SOURCE: Everytime I put my car i park it goes into reverse.

It sounds like you have a damaged shifter cable. It is an adjustable cable but if it is that far out of adjustment then it is probably damaged. Replace it.

I have all gears but reverse and when in park and neutral and gas pedal is pressed the car moves forward, why?

well could be two things. either your transmission has crapped out on you. or you have a shifter linkage issue. which means when the car is in park its not really in park. try this. move the shifter and see if the car moves in a different gear then what it says it is in . so if it moves in neutral it could be drive and reverse is neutral. if it does not reverse at all. time for a new trany is my guess.

I have a 01 Yukon xl denali 6.0 L. The tranny won't shift up past 3rd ggear, but weird thing is I still have reverse?? Need help with this one?!?!

Your saying not enought power to go over 3rd gear or when it hit 3rd gear it goes in neutral if it slip when you hit 3rd one most likely that burn clutch in your trany clutch on automatic trany are many little disc together let me no about it

2007 Chevy Avalanche 3rd and 4th gear are not working

From what you are describing, it is possible either the 3-4 actuator is no longer playing with the 3rd & 4th clutch packs, only way to know for certain is to hook up the good ol' pressure gauge to trans. system, yeah, you think the Chevrolet dealer should know this right?

Sell it now if you can!

My 2005 Equinox, 53,000 miles, makes a groaning noise shortly after putting it into gear. It happens as the car begins to move and goes about 10 feet. Sometimes it happens when I put it in Drive and ...

My 2 have always made that noise, I'm guessing it has something to do with the ABS charging in preparation for potential use. after a combined total of 240k miles, there has been no noted detrimental effect to this "charging" sound.
Great car.

the gears in your trani are not meshing right you will need to take this into a shop since automatic trani's are nothing to play with. they are too intricat to do anything at home
