The car has 118K.. About 3 mos i had a flashing cel..rep wires plugs 1 ign coil..Been fine since..The chk engine goes ( steady) for 1-2 days then goes off for 2-3 days before it returns..took it Autozone got the P0304 code..The car otherwise runs fine..no funny smells, no hest no hard start..This possibly coincidence started after i topped off my oil n coolant..i also want to point out this car has a tendency to burn oil..
P0304 is a misfire on cly. #4. Pull the plug and see if there is a lot of oil that may be fouling it out. If you are burning oil, one thing you can do is switch to synthetic. Synthetic oil will not burn and it can minimize the loss.
Also if you only replaced one coil pac, you may have a problem there, but that is remote since each coil runs two cylinders and you only have a cly.#4 code.
Hope this helps.
Testimonial: "Thank you..the check eng light came on the day after i used a heavier oil than usual..about half a quart of it..the next day thats when the engine light came on..im not sure if its coincidence or not.."

in a dark area/at night, take a spray bottle w/water and mist the engine all around the cap, coil, wires. watch for arching, flashing.
SOURCE: #5 cylinder misfire
I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.

the lean condition is the big clue here it indicates a lack of fuel which is causing the mis-fire on #3. I would suspect a fuel injector is clogged or not getting a pulse from the PCM. ( pulse is the electronic signal)

I ahve same issue with my 2004 MPV. I replaced the plugs, coils etc. No help.
did you ever get it fixed?
SOURCE: my chk engine light came
your vehicle is driving good, not slipping etc... because what i can see from what im reading you have an electrical problem with the transmission wiring.. check the plugs that plug in the transmission, and follow them, im sure you will find something skint up somewhere.
