Have a 2008 Subaru Forester, engine light on, cruse flashing, took to auto-zone they said its not sending a code. What would make this happen?

Faulty switch, or you have a Body control Module communication issue. You need an auto-electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to check live data and communication between all the systems.

Or it is the Parking Light secret switch!!

Not sure but if your really worried about it take it to Auto zone the have a reader to hook up to your vehicle that will tell you if there is any problems.and what you need and it is free

what system has a fault

First thing to do is have the computer scanned for trouble codes.

Possible causes are:-
- Dirty engine oil
- Low engine oil level
- Intake valve control solenoid circuit open or shorted
- Intake valve control solenoid circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty intake valve control solenoid

go to a major auto parts store and ask them to read out the trouble code that is waiting in the cars computer memory. They will do it for free.

Have you had the engine scanned for trouble codes? That's the only way to find out what is causing the check engine light.
