So there are two drain hoses that run from the rear roof that is supposed to drain oout to ground. But the are notorious for getting plugged up. Thus the water will drain in to the rear of your vehicle. On the left side rear of your spare wheel well the ecm module that controls your locking and unlocking is located right where the clogged drains drain out to. Chances are there is water damage to that module. you can unplug the three plugs and open the ecm to take a look inside at the board. So to open the door... At the bottom of the hatch on the inside there is a clear plastic light. Pop that out and pull it to the side. Take a flash light, along with a flat head screw driver, and you will see a metal type lever. Push the screw driver against the lever until you hear a click, which means it is unlatched. And you can now lift your gate. That is a pain I know. You can buy a replacement ecm module, if that is the problem on E-Bay from $80 on up to ridiculous prices.
Should be a round plug toward the bottom of the for panel..slightly off center.. pop it out and you can get a screwdriver in there and pop the latch open
This sounds like you have a grounding problem with your hatch circuits. This type of malfunction usually occurs when two systems (the hatch lift and the Lift glass release) are supposed to be sharing the same ground, but one of the systems has a bad connector or a broken wire. It then "activates" the other system by grounding THROUGH the system that it is supposed to be sharing ground with.
What I would do in your case is to take a HARD look at the wires that are in the conduit that runs between the lift gate and the body. These wires flex every time the lift gate is opened and closed, and are prone to breakage.
The way you describe it, it sounds like the lift gate motor is losing contact at about 1/3 to 1/2 of the way up, and that is when it grabs ground through the glass release solenoid.
It sounds like a relay or interlock is bad. Get close to the hatch and listen for a click sound while pushing the remote button. If you don't hear anything, it will be the relay under the dash or the wire has disconnected from the interlock.
your rear glass on your tail gate is ajar ..press the round circle button on the gate from the outside and the glass will pop open at yah close the glass a little harder since the latch is a bugger to catch i get this all time with mine
and your rear access msg will disappear and your rear windshild motor may work since the glass isnt fully closed the wiper wont run
First you have to take out the one and only screw in the rear hatch door - it's where the hand pull down is you use to close the hatch. Then you have to pop all the plastic clips all the way around the plastic door panel, trying not to pull them out from the frame . If you do pull out the white plastic plugs from the frame you better make certain you take them off the plastic housing and insert them back into their frame holes - or you will never get the housing back on.
Once you have the housing loose disconnect the inside tail gate light wire to remove the whole thing. Then you have to remove 7 to 8 nuts from the back of entire License plate, back up bulb housing using a deep socket to get in there. Work it loose from the rear of the car and it will come out just enough to work on the lights. This is tricky since the screw mounts don't give you much room to work with.
Once you have the license plate and back up bulb frame loose you will see the two housings for the license plate bulbs on top.
Slide out the license plate bulb lens and twist the bulb connection to remove the bulbs. Replace both of them - you don't want to do this again in a month when the other one blows. OPTIONAL: Once you take out the bulbs you might see that the housing is melted where the bulb wanted to burn through. Drill two small holes one is each end of the housing before I put everything back together to release some of the heat. Reverse the whole process to put everything back together. It's not easy. Make sure you insert the cables through the opening for the hatch handle or it will kink and not work properly.
