Over the last 6 months my radio stopped working and my speedometer intermittently stopped working; then later the odometer stopped working. I was advised that it is probably the vss that was at fault and after a difficult job of replacing it, I finally managed it. Now, the radio, speedometer and odometer do not work at all.
You have a digital instrument panel. If any of the other gauges work, it's not a fuse. If you have an automatic transmission, Does it seem to shift a bit harder than normal? This is a sign that the ECU is not getting the signal from the speed sensor. Broken wire, since you just replaced it. But then it would also turn on the check engine light. If you have no light, look at replacing the IP
Suspect you may have some sort of power issue. Check all fuses. May be a hairline crack in a fuse that powers the speedometer. If you can get a 12v light prove place negative of probe on car body and then put the probe pointy end on each side of each fuse to test each fuse .
google 12v probe.

Testimonial: "The car is a 2002 diesel ford fusion 1.4. Thank you, I will test the fuses. I had already previously changed the fuses that I thought were relevant yesterday but nothing changed."
